Can't remember ever seeing a Colt Galant in the flesh before, Very cool car, Was watching this one on ebay the other week.
And that interior is awesome, why can't cars be built like that again with that much coolness?!.
Good luck with the built, I'll be watching this.

This is lovely. Not sure I've seen one before, but reckon it is going to look even better in that colour. Look forward to seeing how it comes on. And yep, that dash is awesome

Nice work sir.
Just a tip for your rear lights get some stuff called dum dum, just what you need.
If your factors don't have it pop to your local nissan dealer and see the parts guy as they use it and send it out in small boxes to body shops.
If i had a small box i would send it to you.

Thanks all, and thanks for the pluses on the colour. I'm very excited to see it on!
Jawel (at least the one in Burton) were excellent and very very helpful. Hongkongphooey mentioned them to me and it was a good recommendation. I got a lot more from the visit than just the paint!

How much pain would I be in if I tried to add another leaf spring to the rear to stiffen the suspension a little?
When my grandad made some for his Frazernash it was straight forward, cut thelengths of spring steel before pinning and clamping them together. To add an extra leaf to an existing spring, can I just slot it in or is there some maths involved I've got to be wary over?

Back! Back from the states and first thing I did was take the car cover off the Galant and make sure she was ok! She was, she's looking perfect, so the first sign of sunshine and I decided to strip the interior out (a slight problem of my old truck with a blown head gasket on the drive way where I was going to strip the Galant, so I couldn't drop the axle out or anything. Interior is the option) All ready for some removals... Seats, belts, mats and centre console all got the careful treatment. Some 70's sound deadening. Kept it incase I decided to use it as a template for some dynamat. A quick vacuum and it's clearly in immaculate condition inside. The inner wheel arches have some rust damage but to my untrained eye I think it should be 'fairly' (on the grand scale of things) straight forward to cut out and weld up.. Any suggestions or opinions are more than welcome on this subject! Offside Zoomed N/S Took the flares off too, a bit of work to do over these too, but again, very little in my opinion, and I'm excited to start tackling it! There is no way these Britax belts are going back in! Haha! But this might just make it into the interior! It's awesome! All interior cards & seats were excellent after just a quick clean! I'll take the cushions off the front and refurb the frames. Thinking of dropping the drivers seat 2" back too. A silly picture, but I just love the sprung rear seats All in all a successful day. Tomorrow, weather permitting, I'll remove all the fluff from the interior and give it a coat of hammerite. Might have a prod around the rusty arches too. Soon as the truck gets taken off the drive, I'll drop the axle and refurb all the suspension. I might have to throw some questions about over upgrading the front suspension tho, so beware Thanks all! Chris

This is a nice thread to keep an eye on. I think the car is going to really be transformed. Looking at that silver one it shows how great these cars can look. Where did you get the headlamps from? They look really cool. Some of my Fiats have twin round lamps

The headlights are from the states, but only as I was working there for a month or two and they were half the price of the UK.
Thanks, I'm itching to get started properly!

Thanks very much. I'm trying my best to crack on with what I can until I have more drive space to start the welding/repairs. Cleaned up all the interior today, clear of fluff and ready to remove the dash and throw some paint on the inside and in the boot
