iv now "decided" to keep the golf for a while so i may as well get it looking good. first things first, it need to be lower.
1. whats a good drop for a golf? any pictures of various amounts of droppage would be good.
2. how easy is it to do?
3. how much should i pay for a set of lower springs?

what sort of drop would cause problems with rubbing of wheel arches? bear in mind i drive on bumpy roads quite a lot

on my old golf i went for dropped springs from GS&F (40mm). Piece of pee to do. Wasnt enough imo, but handled like a dream afterwards! coilovers would give you a world of adjustment - but it depends on if you have the cash

AVOs used to cost around £550 for the Mk1, don't know if there's much of a price difference for the mk2. These are the cheapest coilovers I know of. Some people say they are prone to leaks, but I've run AVOs on Minis and had no problems with them.

Mine has a 30mm drop. It's not enough I'll be wanting to go lower at some point, definitely! But not too low, the ride is firm enough as it is...

Me? Stock 14" Pirelli P-Slots: It needs to go lower as you can see, and I want some spacers to fill the arches out a bit more. Or some wheels with more of an offset

well, 60mm would see tyre coming quite close to arch if they're not too low profile. If you want decent lowering without going the coilover route Venom Motorsport do a good range of kits
