I have notice the depleation of cav 3's over the last few years
at 14 mine hasn't seen a welder, the arches and chassis are fine, so scrappage is a no no ,and with the xe in it the performance is good enough for me ,and the biggest bonus is I can take a spanner to it when needed

Rover 214's are dissapearing fast. Still a fair few about, but compared to a couple of years ago far less. Skoda Favorits, Ford Cougers, Early Protons, Sierras, Also Rover 100's/ Metros are getting rare round here too.

You don't see nearly enough Citroen XM's or Renault 25's around anymore.

I don't know where all you live, but I see loads of AX's, loads of MK1 mondeos and loads of pre-facelift MK3 Fezza's.

A lot of these are `80s cars held over until the early `90s, you would expect to not see so many now. A car that is becoming surprisingly rare - given it`s Honda-derived durability and the fact that the last of the line 2000(V) registered examples are not even eligible for the wastage scheme - is the Rover 600.

True, I wonder why, I always thought the 600 was a good looking car.

in response to the OP, B3 88-93 passats -especially GT spec ones- are becoming rare due to the golf boys stealing the engines out of the good ones- they were available with the 1.8 and 2.0 16v and VR6 engines which are favourites to be transplanted into mk2 golfs, certainly they don't really suffer from rust as they are galvanised and full of cavity wax from the factory. I very rarely see another B3 'ssat on my travels.
See lots of B4 ones though, probably becuase they didnt really have any exciting engines, seem to be mainly TDi's and the 16v ones were only available for 2 years and are very very rare in the UK.
don't often see rover 800's any more (the angular mk1 ones), as well as meastros. I see the odd montego estate now and again, but even they're becoming very rare.

There's a Passat B3 that parks in my road (white estate) as well as a Mk1 Clio, Citroen AX, Xantia, Mk3 Fiesta and Nissan Primera - quite a few of the rest of the list are around my area and seen fairly regularly. Out of the whole list, it's the 100NX and MX-6 that I probably see the least (if at all) I should take my camera next time I go out and see how many of those I can spot on one short journey

lancia thema and sao penza could be added to the list. We had a Thema.....turbo'd, brand new tyres stiff suspension, awsome car and you could really feel it when the turbo kicked in....it broke....I think the camshaaft got out of sinc or something like that, either way you couldn't turn it on without the engine tearing itself to bits. Bad times

Dunno where youre looking but I'm always seeing mk3 fiestas, xedos and mx6s, and vitaras are everywhere still around coventry and essex. I know where all the mx6 and probes have gone though - the bloke who usually does my MOTs in essex has a large stockpile of them, he absolutely loves them for some reason. Renault 5s, however, i never see any more.

Some cars I have not seen for a while to add to the list - Nissan Almeras (havent seen one on the road for ages, lots on the banger tracks though, best place for 'em?) Toyota Carina E Renault Megane hatch & Coupe Renault Clio Mk1, especially 16v Ford Granada / Scorpio Vauxhall Calibra Early 90's Escort / Orion (MK5) Where have they all gone? These cars were once like dog poo (everywhere!) but now many are now more like poor quality wobbly children's play pony poo! I guess its a sign of the times that we live in a throwaway society. My old man had a White Ford Escort 1300 Gt, bought new in 1971 -72. When the family started in 1973 he traded it in for a new mk1 1300XL estate in Daytona Yellow. Kept it until 1994 (21 years ) when it became uneconomical to repair. Now long dead, if only I had a crystal ball in 1994 To put this in perspective, the longest I have owned a car for is 4 years, & its not even retro, (well not yet anyway )
