Hey all,
I've not been on here much due to being a miserable tw@t, but i'd been faffing about with my new mota in the sunshine today so I thought i'd share it with ya, It is, a 1985 Pony RWD GR8 4 RETRO KDM DRIFT Y0!!!
I always reckoned if one of these came up for sale i'd buy it regardless unless I was facing bankruptcy or something, well one came up a couple of years ago and I didnt buy it, instead JonCedric got it. The next time I was better prepared and although it was a later placca bumper model I decided to get on it. It had been up on eBay for 350, it sold but then appeared again a fortnight later so I contacted the geezer. Shortly after I bought it outside of eBay (so satisfying to think of £28 NOT going in eBays pocket), went down to TAUNTON and towed it back. Behold:
The feller selling it also happened to have a Ferrari 360 Modena which you can see in the background there, what a legend he was. The PWN3Y had belonged to his father in law who had got a new ride, given up driving, or died, or something (cant remember now).
Its a one-owner job with 50k on the clock and seems to be totally unmessed with. The interior is grey placca heaven! CHEKOLOID:
First thing I did was bust the steering with my A-frame like a tw@t, meaning it needed a new inner track rod end, got one of those off eGay pretty quick, then I insured it and it was on the road (already had loads of tacks and test)!
Basically done nowt with it since except bin off the god-awful placca trims. My daily Volvo 240 has been dead for the last couple of weeks meaning this is my only transport, its fun enough to blat around the backraods in but it pretty dire at long distances as its optimum cruising speed is 60mph, much beyond that and it sounds like its gonna have some sort of angina attack. I've done almost 1000 miles in it, to celebrate I gave it a 'bo11ox service' (top up the oil and check the tyre pressures) and also washed and polished it, a rare event cos a) I hate cleaning cars and b) i rarely have a car worth polishing. Anyway heres the publicity snaps:
Pretty tasty huh?
The engine is a Korean-made Mitsubishi engine, I think the same as what you get in a Hirst-style galant, but 1200cc rather than 1600. Its a nice smooth revvy little thing.
Check the straightness!
This is the worst bit of grot on it, i'll probably let that get really bad then try and stitch in a wheelarch off something else entirely (JOKE)
I'm not much of one for modding, but in this case i'll probably throw caution to the wind and fit a new radio as the existing one is a 'CROWN' radio cassette of spectacular shatness. Longer-term i shall probably take it to France and park it in my museum with the rest of the bo11ox collection, and forget all about it till my retirement. Not bad eh?
