Hi,
i`m new to the Retro Rides Forum, my Name is Christoph and i`m from Germany (so excuse my english). I like to show you my 1986 Volkswagen Passat 32b, which i´m now owning since 2 years. I bought it from the first owner, an old man, he has driven in in 22 years only 142.000 km.
The car was optically really bad, had a huge bump in the drivers door (i changed it, but its difficult to find good doors for this Passat model), the paint was faded, nearly pink matt.
After a good cleaning inside and out, some improvements, new tires it was easy get the TÜV (mot).
Technically the car is more ore less in a good condition - no wonder, because the old man carried it always to the same VW Dealer, where he bought it in 1986 and additional the car had a full service history until 2005.
So I really have found a good old, stylish and money saving car. The Turbodiesel only needs 6 l in 100 km (i think 40 mpg ?), it has 70 hp, which is relieving on a car wtih only 1100 kg.
As I don´t like lowered cars for me, I build some new springs to it, so it is higher, which improves the off road capability and I could drive faster over the speed bumps ;D.
And here some pictures, actually i´m welding a bit on the backside, because it´s TÜV time again, therefore no fender is installed.
The Turbodiesel lump, it´s dirty because it needs some new manifold gaskets.
Drivers door changed, poorly looking without the side trim.
I like that rude style ;D
Decent speakers
A friend of me is installing a remote controlled central locking, after I changed his car´s head gasket.
Some space here
Fresh wax, after welding the typical Passat rust hole in wheel arch
