What you guys up to with your cars this weekend? Sun supposed to shine! ;D ;D Wish I was going to a show but lots of work planned. I am off down to Southampton tomorrow, a mate helping me fit new Avo springs and dampers....down she goes Also getting a welder to repair a few patches, weld a new sill skin, fill some holes as debadging etc. Then I will be stipping the car a little more as it is booked into a bodyshop next week for a respray. Probably one of the more expensive weeks of my life but can't wait for the results.

Aswell as playing with an MG Metro, MG Metro Turbo and refitting a new scuttle trim to my Mk1 MG Montego Turbo.

Missus is unwell so needs looking after. Plan is to heavily sedate her, then get out of London and go hooning down some country lanes on the pretext of 'popping down the shops for more aspirin', or something.

Saturday: Go see and hopefully buy a seriously nice car... will post it in Readers Rides if I do.
Sunday: Drive my shabby Peugeot 280km's North of here to race it around some cones on a parking lot twice for 2 minutes as part of an "autoslalom" competition, then drive back ;-)

Driving my Escort down to London with my mountain bike in the back. Meeting my dad and brother from various parts of the country. Nothing great, lol. Wasn't looking forward to the journey ahead with only crappy front speakers so I started building mounts for my 6x9s to go in the boot lid. Got one finished then it started raining.. I now have 75% of the sound I should have so I don't have to listen to that third gear drone all down the A1. Honk n wave if you see me Taking my por 15, paint and buttload of sandpaper with me so I can do my sills and arches if this wind we've had for the last 3 weeks decides to go away while I'm down there. Not gonna be a show job, just keeping the rust at bay

Ford Pop front axle stuff, such as cleaning and laquering the nuts, and painting a little more of it. I may reassemble if all goes smoothly. Clean up the backplates too.

I'm headed down to Lechlade in the heart of the Cotswolds on Sunday for the day in the company of Chaseracer and his Dyane.....off to a joint 21st birthday party for two friends/fellow 2CVGB members....one of whom is also involved with the owners' club for Panther motorcycles, so they're having a joint camping weekend.
Oh, and there's quite possibly an imminent and long-awaited vehicular arrival at Damaged Towers. Watch this space, provided this blessed contraption works for long enough to tell you all about it. ;D

Well it's started off good and bad really. Firstly I'm ill (again ) so generally feeling rubbish and the Kadett is now off the road until I can get the horrendous corrosion in the rear chassis sorted On the plus side the McCoy passed it's MOT today and if the weather stays fair I'll drag the racecar out and blow the cobwebs out that. Set to be an A series-tastic weekend then Hopefully put some time in on the 'E too if I'm not too curse word as well.

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

I was going to paint the MGB's sills after I took those sill covers off and them confirming my suspicions (Sills are mint, but they are in primer...), but I'm off to Scotland (Islay) this weekend. Taking the MGB down would be good, but I doubt it would fit 2 mountain bikes, tents and other curse word LOL.

I've got a lovly new cherry bomb back box to put on the Dolomite as it's a bit loud as it is.
But I've also got the head gasket to do on my trusty thrusty 405 which has made me realise.... newish, quiet and fuel efficient or old, loud and thirsty it doesn't matter what you use for a daily driver it will always let you down. So I'm going back to a loud and thirsty daily driver ;D
