Was chatting to my 8 yr old daughter to see if she would fancy a cool and unique scooter to whizz about on.....
answer was yes so went and had a look at the stockpile...a 24 inch suspension mountain bike and a 26 inch one both made by Apollo....
had an idea of the look i wanted so started cutting the bikes up..and came up with this...
the forks and back end are the 24 inch bike..forks adapted for 20 inch wheel and the main frame is the headstock part and the foot part are forks from 26 inch bike
then manipulated to look like this...
at this point i went searchin on net to see if i could fine similar...an American company do this for just under 500 dollars..
a spanish company do this....
lined it up
and welded it up with added headstock bracing...
braced where the bottom tube meets the platform by wrapping steel around and weldin it in..then a bit of filler to make it neater...
cut up an old screenwash container for a tread plate..
looks like a swan..lol
bmx handlebars look better
and here we go..painted to the colours of my daughters choice...
one push scooter with suspension forks and v brakes...rear has been connected up since this photo..
took about 3 days..we're both well chuffed with result...cost a gas bottle and some paint to do plus a rear brake cable..so 21 quid.....
