Imagine the scenario.
You've rescued a 1981 Citroen Dyane from a barn where it's lain for 15 years. You spend a few days sorting out one or two odd bits of welding and a couple of jobs for the MOT, drive it to the test station, bring it home with a slipping clutch which you fix with a second-hand unit, then after a quick blat up the road to check it's OK, what do you do?
Well if you're my erstwhile chum and fellow RR member Jonathan 'Sidewinder' Clewer, what you do is pack the passenger seat with your favourite fat bas*ard ;D and take it on a 300-mile flat out round trip through the rain to Wetherby Racecourse for the 2009 Citroen Car Club's Northern Rally, that's what.
Pictures speak louder than words.
More DS's later.
LHD Citroen LNA. Basically a Peugeot 104 with a 652cc development of the 2CV engine. Incredibly rare these days.
2CV6 Bamboo
Gorgeous late 70's CX.
Really tidy BX Athena was for sale. 12M MOT, spotlessly clean, £425ono. There was a HUGE turnout of BX's, it seems they've made the transition from Bangersville to Modern Cla**ic. Rightly so too, I absolutely love mine, sheddy leaky old beast though it is.
;D
Immaculate Dolly.
One of the most beautiful cars ever made, IMHO. There were a fair few DS's in attendance, including one absolute STUNNER. More of that in a bit.
Fantastic patina on this '67 DS.
Jaw-dropping from EVERY angle.
HOW gorgeous is this CX?
Stunning Ami cabrio pulls off that rare trick of being home-brewed, but looking like it rolled out of the factory. Worth another look...
Fantastic. I'd have taken this truck home, too:
The sun shines on the righteous...
Yet another gorgeous DS.
2.7 litre Maserati V6-powered SM. Magnifique!
Immaculate 16V BX GTi was for sale. £1295 to you, squire.
Mile-deep paint made this Traction Avant look amazing.
Mad as a box of frogs, and packing a hefty Turbo punch. Totally in your face. But why shout? Take a look at this DS, parked next to it.
Tidy. Understated. Cool. But wait......what's this badge on the back?
Yes, really. Under that calm exterior lurks the heart of a Supercar.
DS with SM underpinnings. And a removable roof section, so becomes a DS27 Decapotable. Utterly stunning. Here's an interior shot.
I can't top that, so I'm not gonna try. Thanks to JC for a cracking day out, and I finally got to meet RR member Aerodynamica! Hope you got home to Glasgow safely Amigo!
