Spluttering along, we went to www.medwaymonkeys.co.uk , a local groups meeting tonight with the bus. Ethos is very much similar to the Retro Rides ethos, with PRE-1980 cars that are standard or modified are catered for. A great bunch of guys and girls, quite a few girls with 100E's, Mk2 Cortina's etc there. One pic only, the bus in the corner, behind the people.

looks like a good meet! shame my pashat is a couple of years too young tho would be nice to check out some of those motors. Same old story tho- watercooled so the aircooled VW guys don't wanna know, and not a Golf so the golf guys don't care, and not old enough to be a "classic" lol BTW where did that tower block behind the pub come from? don't remember that being there last time I was down the ship+trades?

Loads of the guys there have modern daylies, just that the focus is on a shared interest in retro cars.
More cars arrived after I had taken the pics.
There is absolutely no exclusion, except the pre 1980 build rule.
Which is why Retro rides is my home.
I have too varied a taste in cars to stick with single marque clubs and groups.
Blocks of flats for when ecconomy takes off again.
HORRIBLE eye sore IMO.

Grizz - where's the meet and when's it on? Mrs Jalopnik's brother lives in Strood so might try and come along when we're up there later in the summer.

looks like the meets in the carpark of the ship and trades pub which is just before you get to st mary's island in chatham, next to dockside outlet place. 5 mins from strood through the medway tunnel.

Correct Matt. Dig around on www.medwaymonkeys.co.uk the anouncements are there. I think it is every 2nd Thursday. Everyone seemed to be having fish and chips too, Ms Grizz's parents drive a substantial way to get theirs there, and I have to say the fish I had last night was great.
