Hi guys i've got this old school bmx: All i know is it says "meteor lite" on it, does anyone know if it's worth anything, if it's rare etc? I was considering getting some new vinyl stickers made up for it (with meteor-lite the same as it is now) but i don't want to mess with something valuable. Cheers guys.

I'm not an expert, but from what I can see there, it would seem to actually be quite a new bike. I would guess that this was made in the last 10 years, so it's not really that old-school. I don't know if it's rare or not, but it seems to be equipped with fairly low-end hardware and would have been a fairly cheap bike when it was new, so I'm willing to guess that it's not worth anything. So, good news then: do whatever you like with it!

I agree wit waveman, the cranks, seat, tyres and pedals look rather modern. It looks as if it still has the manufacturers logo on the headtube, that should help with identifying it.

Metor lite did make bikes BITD and Although I think this bike is a later model describing it as "new" might be a bit harsh given that its got caliper brakes, a 1" headseat, a 1 peice crank and 1/2" pedals- theres a meteor lite freesyler shamelessly stole from rad BMX below which shows they did make em back then, I'd say that as has been suggested by others that the pedals, wheels (48 hole wheels not O/S genrally they ran 36 hole) seat have been retro fitted and the bars are cw/cw copies added at a later date. I'd pop a pick up on rad and let those guys sort it, they can usually tell you what it is...

I think you've got an old frame with 'new' wheels and saddle added. The chainring looks oldschool.

It only says meteor lite on the headtube And this bike is definately from the 1980s - it has been in my family since new and my brother rode it when he was younger, definately not made in the 00's! Thanks for the help guys ill sign up oin rad later.

What sets it apart as potentialy old school is the fact its a race style frame rather than a tricks one. There are still manufacturers making these style frames but less and less as most ppl knock out those heavy over sized tube freestyle things. I realise the OP has said its definitely 80s though, was just saying

My next door neighbour had one of these in the '80s. I don't think it was considered a 'top brand' back then and doubt it was too expensive but we used to put our bikes through hell and they held up perfectly. It's good to see so many old BMX's still around.
