Hi,
thanks for looking at my ad.
I have followed the recommended format, and then added extra information below.
Basic info
1989F
Volvo 760 turbo intercooler estate, manual
130k miles
Taxed to end of May 09
Mot to May 2010
Modified (details below the photos)
Resprayed
Very good condition
Some photos
I am not much good at photography; the car looks better in the flesh.
Located:
Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, UK (near Leeds).
Price:
It's priced to sell at £895
Contact:
John on 07970 524055
FURTHER INFORMATION
The car was built a few years back by the Parts Manager of a Volvo dealership in Wales, and has been modified further since then.
For those of you new to Volvos, this type is rear-wheel-drive unlike the later generation 850/V70 cars. Much more fun in my opinion!
Engine & transmission
2.3 4cyl ohc high pressure turbo, efi
Later type engine block fitted (better for further tuning because it has thicker conrods and oil squirters to cool the pistons)
K&N air filter
Adjustable turbo boost control
Rising rate fuel pressure regulator
Boost gauge
Electric fan with adjustable control
LPG system fitted (…but not working properly, see notes)
Later type (stronger) M90 5-speed manual gearbox fitted
Wideband lambda sensor & wiring fitted (no gauge currently fitted)
Sports exhaust
Chassis
Volvo 40mm lowering springs
Volvo accessory rear anti-roll bar
Excellent handling
Bodywork
Excellent condition; the car looks really stunning
Full, high-quality respray in the original colour
Roof and bonnet were taken back to bare metal (because of UV damage to the lacquer)
Panels with parking dents were replaced (tailgate and n/s/f wing)
Then all trim, roof rails, door handles, lamps etc removed
Prepared carefully and resprayed by a friend, who’s an expert bodywork man
Grille, all lamps, badges, bright trim, number plates, etc all replaced with new or VCG used parts
Wheels & tyres
16” Volvo alloy wheels
Recently refurbished
Wheel spacers fitted (20mm front, 30mm rear) to allow use of these later type Volvo wheels
Matching 215/55VR16 tyres, all with 4mm+ tread
Interior
Excellent condition black leather
Custom made brushed stainless steel door inserts
Carpets, dashboard, door trims, boot trim all in good order
Electric window all round
It's very comfortable and, of course, has massive load carrying capacity
Bits and pieces
Some extra information, and some things I've not had time to fix.
Car runs really well on petrol, but really badly on LPG. I've had conflicting expert opinions on this problem. Some say it just needs the LPG ECU remapping, others say it needs a new control unit. So, if you want to get the LPG working properly, assume you'll need to spend some money unless you can fix it yourself. This is NOT an essential job, the car runs absolutely fine on petrol.
Driver’s seat reupholstered. I replaced all the foam and leather so it's like sitting in a new car! All the electric adjustments now work as they should.
Later Volvo stereo fitted, with power amp & upgraded speakers, but speaker wiring needs to be corrected because it doesn't sound right (not all speakers working)
New heater matrix fitted
Roof lining replaced (with the correct fabric) but the glue has now come unstuck, so it needs regluing
Air-conditioning and cruise control were disconnected when I got the car and I've never tried them
Electric sunroof works correctly (new seal fitted when car was resprayed)
Synchro occasionally slow into 2nd gear
Intermittent fault on reversing lights
Rear wiper sometimes does not self-park
Some very light scratches on outer edges of mirrors (narrow garage door!)
Removable towbar fitted, with electric socket discretely mounted
One wheel stud has mangled thread
It is not the 7 seat version, but the extra folding seats could be fitted if you removed the LPG tank
New battery with 3 year warranty
I have never put it on a dyno. It feels like about 190bhp with the boost quite low (as it is now) or about 220-230bhp with it turned up more. Ideally, you would want it set up on a dyno to match the fuelling with the boost increase
Summary
Having done a lot of work on the car, this is a reluctant sale. But all my spare time is going into my Volvo 164RS project retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=58505&page=1 and I never have the time enjoy the 760. Plus, I don't really need it so I'd prefer it to go to someone who can use and enjoy it more.
The car has lots to offer to a range of people for many different uses, e.g:
• Ready to use now as a smart, fast, family-friendly retro car which gets lots of admiring attention
• Could be a concours show car with more time spent on detailing
• Get the LPG sorted for a stylish and economical daily driver
• Great tow-car for your historic racer or whatever
• Excellent basis for a 300+bhp monster... browse on www.turbobricks.com/ and www.kgtrimning.com/KGTRIMNING162005web.pdf
If you have any questions, please call or send me a message.
Well, thanks for wading through to the end, and I hope the moderators don't delete it for being too long!
I know someone will be really chuffed with their 80s Swedish turbo!
Cheers
John
