Not a challenge..... Just an introduction. Made a Brake pedal lock today for the bus. Some Scaffolding pipe, big hammer, angle grinder, a drill, and some Hammerite to finish off.

Would it not be a better idea to do the accelerator?, just in case the thief happens to not notice the lock and tries to drive away and totals the van. Simple and effective idea otherwise.

Nice to see everyone uses the same safety equipment as I do ;D. Would it be better to fit it to the accelerator pedal, so if it does go at least they can stop it, more chance of getting it back in 1 piece if it does get nicked. Just a thought. Cheers, Stu.

hardcore!
It might be worth checking tho. it wouldnt suprise me if there is some sick loophole that means if the scum that might try and make off with it were to crash and hurt himself they'd be able to SUE you and win!

To be honest, I would still kick the fecker in the head afterwards too. It is just a deterant for simple opportunistic scrotes. People who want it will always steal stuff. Brakes locked in "OFF" postition, problem is with the engine cover and access inside the cab, you can bypass the throttle pedal manually. I did consider the clutch, but then I cannot start the bus manually on the drive. Back to safety equipment..... These days I am so over cautious, I even wear goggles. Toe-teckters to the rescue, when I redid my fence and pavine etc... Driveway a long timr before the bus came. Council slabs, the small ones.... 42 kg each. Working alone is not always fun, but the job needed doing. CANDY TAPE for the brainless few..... Done.

cool idea!
what about something on the dash to stop you trying to drive off with it still on there.... like the disc lock things on motorbikes have the bit up to the handle bar, just to remind you (i assume thats what its for).
i can imagine it being a bit of a pain in the ass if you hop in your van one day, drive off up the road and ::crunch:: no brakes....

however i think it might be got around by reminding the theif with a small notice on the dash saying, if u steal this van, it has no brakes! lol

well done chief, you saved yourself £90. www.loc-king.co.uk/These look far inferior too - the groove to seat the pedal isnt nearly deep enough, allowing it to be kicked around imo, unlike yours Grizz.

I'm in no way knocking your endeavours, but is it obvious enough to deter the opportunistic thief? The more determined thief would probably not mind slowing down with the gears and handbrake. I would have thought locking the gears in neutral or locking the handbrake on/brake pedal down would be more effective. Just a suggestion.

However, column shift is not that easy to do. I have end of terrace, and get in the side when I block a parking where the one bollard to open space has been removed for service vehicles to enter. Anyway, I know it is just to slow people down, nothing more needed.
