it's been a bit slow this project, my dad and i both have other stuff on the go have been doing a bit of part searching and my dad got a hold of both front doors and the side loading door from mega bug in SE London, only for me to get given some doors in better condition from an old boy who is a regular at work. also had the engine rebuilt, was looking for a 2.0l engine/box to fit but decided just to have the 1600 done. whilst that was away i have spent my lunch breaks sandblasting the engine tin ware. going to trial fit that tomorrow so repairs can be made and then i can paint them. i will update Sunday with a few pictures.

the CT engine is actually not soo bad, i had a panel van and was quite happy with it. Yours is a very early one, as you can see from the metal louvers at the rear pillars, they are very rare now. I also thought about putting in a 2,0l, which is actually not as easy as it seems; there is some work necessary to get the bigger engine in; does yours still have a cable clutch ? The very early ones had a cable clutch instead of the hydraulic one.... i see original aircooled type 25s going up in prices in the future.

this- will be going in here- sorted through the tine ware so now i know what goes where i can bend and weld it all back into shape. mrj- yes it is cable operated, we stuck with the 1600ct due to a recent article in a magazine saying how rare the early ones are.

oh, thats nice, a new engine is always good, hope to get mine sorted soon (although its a watercooled now) .... oh, and please check the rear trailing arms, they like to corrode and a couple of buses already lost them (including the wheel and the driveshaft...) ... the CT engine was the last evolution of the aircooled engines; with hydraulic tappets and electronic ignition there wasn't much maintenance necessary....

don't let the outside fool you, the underside of it is solid. everything has been coated with schutz/underseal. had a good look around whilst i was in the engine area and was a nice to see that only the outside will need my attention. good thing really as i no nothing about aircooled vw's.

A bit of a late update, but remember that empty hole up there ^^^^^^ and the bare engine.. well.. Still not tried to fire it up as still need to finish a few things off and get a few odds 'n' sods but we are getting there ( slowly ) I hope to have it up and running for vw action 2011 but I did say that for 2010 ;D
