Okay I've been after for ages, for various different cars across a number of years, colour matched paint cans. Where can you get them from, and how much do they cost.
Furthermore assuming one were able to obtain the aforementioned paint cans, how does one go about applying them so they actually do match the paintwork?

Any motor paint specialist should be able to make up a colour match provided you have the paint code. Even Halfrauds can do it.... (just don't ask when the saturday gimp is on the counter!). Take the car along as well - if they're any good they can look at the car and "adjust" the mix according to the patina of the car's paint. (Even the dreaded Halfrauds offer this too!). If poss. try and get a grip-trigger to attach to your rattle cans - it will be a good was to spend a fiver as the spray will be much more even. Then it's just the usual flatting back, polishing etc to get a match against the existing.... Just remember to do as I say, not as I do..... (see pic below! )

My limited experience of this sort of thing tells me Helfrauds paint is sheeeeiiiitte and generally not a good match for anything metallic. Also, their cans like leaking on me. Better to go to a specialist

Halfords are expensive too - their 500ml rattlecans are £9.99! For £11.99 from my local paint specialist, i got 500ml metallic and 750ml lacquer.

Whenever I have used Halfords cans I have always been pretty impressed by the colour match and quality of finish. Admittedly its been a few yearsd since I use theirs and their quality might have dropped

Halfords paint has a lot more thinner in it than a Paint specialist. Try to get a PPG can. Its nice thick paint that builds well and covers twice what a Halfords tin does.

i got mine from a local specalist and it was fantastic, they had my 30 odd year old colour on the books and it was a perfect match (slight sun fading not included). The other thing was the proffesional rattle can it came in, adjustable spray pattern, no leaks drips dribbles, and very even coverage. Find a specalist, don't use halfrauds, bunch of curse word in my opinion!
