its the same with the FABIA/POLO/IBIZA/OCTAVIA/GOLF/LEON/SUPERB/A3/A4/PASSAT/TOURAN etc. Door handles are the same, and quite a bit of the interior. Indicator stalks, heater controls etc etc.

...and wheels it looks like! Suspiciously similar to the ones on the Diplomat - does this mean that it might have entire Senator running gear?

the truely disgusting Aixam uses hoards of other manufacturers parts. Fairly sure those lights are from some french van... the berlingo maybe? Scenic back lights? Early ones had nova back lights. Obviously a big market for them, all novas now have lexus lights anyway The earlier ones also have Rover 100 headlamps, as does the Ligier Ambra And i think the entire dashboard is from a metro? or at least the instruments and centre section. And while looking for piccies i was unfortunate enough to find this - big piccie so clicky clicky.

Lots of folk buy them over here! Only folk who have no driving licence though, which means dullards/alcoholics/serial crashers. Horrible!

the only person i know to have bought one was a mate's dad, i think he's only got a moped licence or something crazy. basically you can apply for your provisional UK licence and drive one of these heaps of turd on your own, no experience necessary.
he has since been done for speeding in his Aixam. twice. in the same spot. it was a 20 limit outside a school which explains it, that's the only limit they can speed through.
they're awful. they make having your genitals removed with an angle-grinder seem pleasant. they have a two-cylinder diseasel engine which sounds strained at idle and only gets worse. i would rather walk wherver i needed to go than consider ever using an Aixam as transportation.

Seen loads of 'em when driving and living in France, but wasn't quite sure about law regarding what you need to drive them. Never noticed them until about 1992 onwards.
