Hi. Yes, GLS is posh trim, GLX came on later models as far as I know. You could get basic C, and L models but GLS 1.5's were generally auto box models with nice trim, some chrome bits etc. Got any pics? I have a Mk1 Polo GLS which is a 1980 so it's probably similar to that - heated rear window, nice seats, clock, rear wash wipe, two speed wipers, mudflaps etc. Got a load of original sales brochures at home if you need any more info I could have a look.

cheers guys, and that website is a good one darren yep stu, i was just wondering if it was the top marque of non-gti's....its got chrome on the grill, door handles, thin chrome strip on bumper, chrome strips on sides i think. whats the going prices though? got a price in mind but I'm not sure. just a vague ballpark figure I'm after.....full 12months MOT and TAX, one owner, vgc, stock as a rock....I'm not aware of the mileage though

Its always difficult to price such a thing - in the wacky world of VW enthusiasts then they'll probably try and sell such a car around the £1000 mark - perhaps even more if it truely is in exceptional condition. However to the non enthusiast such a car would be seen as just a 'old banger' but would still command a few hundred quid for being MOT's & Taxed & would represent a year's cheap motoring. Presuming the guy that owns the car is a non-enthusiast - I would offer something in the region of the low £100s

What it's worth all depends on condition really but as a guide I recently had my Mk1 Polo up for sale at £500 and had a lot of interested parties until my g/f changed her mind about selling it! I would agree with Dan and start with maybe £200 - £300 as an offer and see where it goes from there. Good luck with it, get some pics - sounds like a lovely car!

Nice looking car, great colour too, but those profiles and 5 spokes don't help much.

Agreed, wheels look naff. See if you can get it cheaper, like for £300 or something if you don't take the wheels. Get yourself a set of Mk2 driver 14 inch steels for about £20 and bung those on, look much better anyway.
Shame about the sills but looks very nice in any case and sills can be fixed!

non standard wheels, thats 100 quid off straight away!! (even tho you can buy mk1 alloys for much less than 50 quid a set) Good colour (Azores Blue Metallic iirc), probably worth the risk, as you will be able to sell it to some dub nut by advertising it as "a good base for any project" or something like

the wheels suck donkey balls he has the original steels in the garage.....but 14" steels and lowered 60mm would look loads better ;D he said he wont go lower than £400 and its about to be advertised in a mag so he is going to have lots of interest....if it was 300 id probably do it....
