Decided to give my '07 TGB a makeover......More KGB than TGB ;D Started out looking the same as this...... With the aid of some military paint, a few odd's & sods and a few hours spare she now looks like this........ She's still unfinished, plans are afoot to use an old ammo box as a top box, I'm waiting on a sticker (emblem of the GDR) for the headstock & I'm planning to add a few military field bits & bobs.............There's a descent army surplus shop not far from me so going shoppoing next weekend ;D There's a few blue TGB's in Mk so I thought I'd make mine look a tad different, will update as new bits are added as she's far from finished. ;D

I should be able to get the stickers out to you this coming week (haven't had much time to get them sorted yet - sorry about that!) Might have something else for you that you'll probably like. Bike is looking superb. Love the mesh/netting over the front. Good work there....

I can imagine they've had some stick! Were they the one's with the wierd box on the backend? Mine isn't too badly abused although I use it at least 5 days a week in all weathers. Must say I've been impressed with the Taiwanese scoots, I had a Sym Jet Euro X before this one which unfortunately got pinched & trashed. Had a Gilera Ice 50 before that, b*stard thing was a nightmare! I've only had J or Taiwanese after that. I'm 30 in 22 days, using it on a UK driving license which I got in August 1997. I think it may have been de-restricted, it sit's around 40-45mph........Hit's 50mph on a downhill with a tail wind ;D What restriction is there on these? I'm sure the exhaust is standard and I seem to remember seeing a 'performance' CDI in the TGB catalogue.

Right things to know, the engine is a suzuki-marneilli (sp?) the weak point is the plastic oil pump gear, first you'll know of that breaking is the engine blowing up, worth replacing if you have done high mileage or if the engine is out for anything. De-restriction, 3 things, cdi box, disconnect the brown wire, cdi should be on the right below the seat behind the panel. gearing, front varitor should have a brass ring on the shaft which stops the gearing from reach it's maximum (like driving around in 4th) and lastly the exhaust, see that pipe coming off the middle bit? chop it out and weld up the hole, of if you cheap and not all that bothered about that last 0.1hp just carefully squeeze it shut with a vice grip. Carefully because you can tear the pipe away from the weld. phew, anyway since you can do 40-45mph i reckon someone might have done either the gearing or the cdi box, but i can plainly see the pipe needs doing, should be nice and quick when it's all done! i've done all this research while trying to find part's for these things, but i'm not allowed to de-restrict the bikes at all

Hmmmm, always wondered who made the lump for a TGB, cheers for that ;D Would I be right in saying that a Suzuki engine could be used as a replacement if needed? Is the oil pump gear difficult/expensive to do? Mine's readign 9k on the clock, not sure if they go by MPH or KPH.
The chap I brought it from had owned it from new, he didn't seem the type that would have replaced the CDI. There place he brought it from (which is local) do offer the de-restrict them if you have the correct license, this was free when I asked so I'm guessing they're just removing the brass ring on the shaft as the CDI would surely cost a few quid.

A new cdi is not needed just disconnect the wire from the block connector. oil pump gear is good for 20kish, it needs no special tools but it is in such a place that the engine would need to be out for it come out.
All over the world mopeds need only be restricted for a short time (eg 17 year olds) and in some places (ireland) there is no law at all saying that moped's must be restricted(or at least there was..(mumblemumbleoldagemumble), So all of them must be easy to de-restrict the fact that there is really only two engines out there helps (discount the hondas)

Hmmm, pretty straight forward then. ;D I looked at buying one brand new & the dealer said they'd de-restrict it in the price which was £999 OTR, I brought this '07 off eBay from a local fella for £399 BIN last year........It meant having to sell my old Honda NE50, which I still miss as I had no room in the shed & any bike left out where I live is as good as gone unfortunately. I've just got this one belled up, on top of the additional 'security' measures/booby traps it should be fairly safe from the thieving little scrotes..........Famous last words!
