Back again , last week the heater fan in this decided to give up in a cloud of smoke , ive got spares but as my job is rebuilding electric motors thought id strip it down and have a peak , the armature had gone " down to earth " so shorted resulting in a smelly mess , anyway i rewound the armature and replaced the cardboard wedges with wooden ones , these wedges are supposed to hold the wire in the slots , there was only 3 out of the 10 left so probably caused the problem ,whole lot is then varnished and baked , this holds the wire solid , useful for something spinning so fast and something not done in the factory , heres a few piccys of the process for those interested , deleted the smelly mess ones by mistake but have got these All in bits , armature in the middle , replaced the green and black supply wires as well , these connect directly to the field coils coming back together , you can see the wedges on here new brushes , these arnt available normally , just so happens i found some NOS ones All done , id already sandblasted the motor and outer case previously

Looking good,
Incidentally, I really must make a point of dropping in on your sunday morning meatfeast again. I've been meaning to but keep ending up at my girlfriend's on sat nights/sundays so I'm in the wrong place to drop by.

Got my newness numberplates the other day , not a lover of the " pressed ally " ones , too common IMHO , managed to get some of the seperate digit type , these digits are riveted on and seem to suit the beast better , moved the front plate back to where it should be , just to see how it looks As was www.daagl.eclipse.co.uk/impclub/no grill3.jpg[/img] As it is now with newness fitted

Things have taken a turn for the worst , had a look at the inner arches tother day , a few bits of rot where a seam runs up the middle of the inner arch , so far two holes OSR , 2 holes OSF , Suspension mount rot NSF , havnt looked at the NSR yet , shes now covered in dust with no front wheels or petrol tank whilst I try and sort this mess out . Stupid idea of mine to spray the outside whilst the inside was knackered , Dead for a good while I feel

And for such a great, characterful car it's well worth it. Post up some photos of what you've found. A problem shared... and all that Cheers, and stick at it ! John

Looks fairly localised. A sound car with a couple of rusty bits, not a rotten car, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, it looks much less of a job than the rear wing repalacement you did!

Its alive again , well temporarily anyway , ive sorted out all the inner arches ,the NSR inner arch was the only one not needing any welding , ive cleaned them all up ,welded where required , Kurusted , red oxide , stone chip painted all four now , Front suspension to come off next for a rebush / repaint etc , but for now its drivable again

Just a little update , ive sorted all the welding and fitted new front top suspension mounts , Havnt taken a picture til now but about 4 months ago I also tinted the rear side and tailgate windows just too see how it looked , not very easy but I'm pleased with the overall look , although I may go darker or even signwrite it with something , got knows what with though ,Also did a bit of a plumbing mod forcing more coolant to the heater thus making it hotter , seems to work fine , Il finish the respray in the summer . Here she is about to play in the snow and test the heater

Hi , yep , seem to be almost identical to me , some people winge about it being hacked about with side windows , but i suspect that i probably wouldnt still be here if it was still used as a van and not converted to a " car " and therefore having an easier life , your van is a cracker by the way , love the signwriten side windows , great idea which i may pinch someday ( please )

Problems , decided to over haul the front suspension , ive sandblasted and painted another set of wishbones and fitted polly bushes and redone the the wishbone / steering rack mount , after much faffing its all come off , heres the problem , Pipes for the brakes and clutch and the fuel pipe as well as the throttle cable are all under neath this , upon its removal I'm left with this , one rotten fuel pipe which being rear engined goes on for miles , the brake pipe that goes to the rear wheels is also fubared as is a couple of shorter ones , done well to last 44 years but still a bit of a pain Heres the rotten pipes , bit bent one is fuel , not sure how ive gotten away with this so long , floors covered in surface rust but very solid , ally bit is the throttle cable stop .

Finally sorted this latest mess out ;D, fitted four new kunifer brake pipes and a kunifer fuel pipe and refitted the front suspension with new polly bushes and two new track rods, the rest of the brake pipes were replaced years ago in copper so can stay . All this took about 18 hours of mostly groveling on my back with bits of car falling on my face , Fuel pipe was a nightmare to do owing to the fact i was using kunifer and the fact that it screws into the petrol tank and to the moggy minor leccy pump fitted , just get the tracking sorted and tighten the wishbone bolts once the suspensions settled a bit . No pictures unfortunately as i forgot to take any

I suspect some people will disagree but I'm not a lover of " modern " radios or CD players on show in 60s cars so ive hidden mine out of view , this leaves a problem of having an aerial and speakers visible but no radio , anyway after years of looking ive found this , its only 3 inch x 3 inch x 2 1/2 inches high , made by the world radio company in London in the late 60s , it works fine but i wont connect it up , just going to swap it from car to car for shows ,I must be mad but hay ho ;D

Ive never seen one of these conversions before, looks good and sits really well over those lovely wheels.
Its good to see a car like this being used, its a credit to you!!
