We've had threads as far as I can remember about cars we regret selling - but can't remember one about cars we regret not buying? Last weekend I turned down this....... I already am regretting not buying it as the rare Oettinger WBX4 is my idea of the perfect T25 (well apart from the six pot version, the WBX6) - I only turned it down because at some point in the van's history somebody had fitted a load of speakers which would necessitate buying new interior panels to avoid having the unsightly holes removing the speakers would leave .... oh well What automotive treasures have you guys nearly brought but had to turn down for whatever reason?

8 or 9 years ago I was offered a tidy 8-seater T25 by my mum & dad's neighbours for £100.
Like a curse word I turned it down. Gah!

Yep - that was taken at Vanfest a couple of weekends ago, I luckily seemed to manage to avoid the mud despite the rain we had on the Saturday Keefy - keep us all posted on the 411 project, can't wait to see what you've got planned for it Edit; Just noticed that Hotwire's lovely white Datsun is designated 411 too....... how weird

I like those new busses too now, sorry salt in wounds!
hummed and arrred about a V8 custom Mk1 granada with capri lights and a modded lights at the back, my mate found in a yard in wyke, was only £500 he was asking, i was only 20 and at uni, plus all the normal insuranse companies were not giving good feedback. so bailed out, it turned up in custom car or summat for £200 a while after i think it had gone before i saw the ad. Sure theres a few lost opportunities I have forgotten about.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I once put a drunken eBay bid on an ex-Post Office LDV Sherpa with about a billion miles on the clock and no MOT / tax.... located in a field in Wales.... and bloody won the auction. I managed to get out of it after paying the guys sellers fees - I would have been a dead man had I brought that home!

I think it should be the other way round, Like ' what cars didn't you buy (when offered) and now don't regret !
Then there can be a 'what car do you regret your mate/ family etc not buying'.

Keefy - keep us all posted on the 411 project, can't wait to see what you've got planned for it if everything goes to plan there will a nice thread on monday of how we collected it, sorted it and slammed it. It should basically have a new appearance and presence by the end of the weekend ... and then the 'theme' will slowly take place. We all know what I'm like though, it wont be long till its running a 2276 lol. Or maybe i will drop Tasha's race engine into the back ..... Benzboy - did u post that up here before? Cos i seem to remember that story lol

Thing is theres plenty of cars I see that I think 'mmm I would really like that' and quite often it is followed up by an enquiring phone call or e'mail (like a mint MK1 Jetta that was on the bay a couple of months back) But you soon come to your senses and realise the practicality (or lack of) Owning another old vehicle. However as I am actively looking for a Van at the moment for the shows/short camping trips I do and having thoroughly checked over this van and taken it for a test drive I was this >>>>] [<<<< close to making an offer and will be one to tourment me for some time to come

Oh yeah - I got the wrong end of the stick I regret not buying a Mk1 Granada for £200 a few years back, but then I went and bought the W115 Benzie so I can't grumble that much! Do still have pangs of regret for not blowing more wodge on a Reliant Scimitar SE6A... I wouldn't have had to do so much welding on that! ;D

Turned down an immaculately clean Dolomite Sprint - it had LSD, was BRG, twin 45's, engine fully balanced and gasflowed, quickshift (?), oil pressure gauge, lowered 1" on Spax, sports exhaust and downpipe, kenlowe fan, oil cooler...came up in the LBO for 1200 quid, no MOT or tax, garage stored... Ignored it desparately... Came back next month for 1000...went to the bloke, it'd sold for 800 Came on Ebay 2 weeks later, sold for 1680...oh well, guess you learn

Goof GTI mk2 at a local garage - £250 on a C plate so nice and early, red paint but not faded. figured for that price it'd be a shed so didn't hurry to go and look around, then it had gone.
.....gone as it was bought by a mate of a mate, who reports it's a 'bargain' and worth about three times that. straight through an mot and all.
curse word.

I rejected a free 1981 red VW Jetta with 9 month MOT and road tax........at the time I didn't see it the potential. I also missed out on a MK1 1973 Toyota Celica, only because it was LHD and needed a drivers side glass........ I am a fool.
