Hi Guys, Right, I have finally invested in a tyre to trial fit my Allycats on the Toledo. The car obviously needs lowering, and the wheels need a refurb, but I am wanting to get people's opinion on whether it is worth the change before I go any further. The Allycats have a different offset so do stick out of the bodywork a lot more, especially at the front. I am wondering if the wheel sticks out too far on the front? The rear arches will need to be rolled, and the fronts flared and rolled. This obviously adds to the cost of the change. I love the Allycats but it is gonna be expensive to get the rubber, arches rolled, refurbed and new wheel nuts. I have also had to go for a different sized tyre on the Allycat and I am not sure if they will fill the arches as well as the original, even once lowered as they are lower profile. I am wondering if I need to increase the aspect ratio to fill the arch better. Interested in your opinions please ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Variety of photos; Allycat on the rear ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0134.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0133.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0138.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0139.jpg) Allycat on the front ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0142.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0144.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0147.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0156.jpg) ![](http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/alolympic/_0158.jpg) Cheers Guys Al

Looks great from the side, but I agree they could do with tucking into the arches a bit and lowering it obviously! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Can you find some in a slightly bigger offset, especially for the front, not sure bigger than standard front arches and standard rears will look quite right? But still its certainly going to be an awesome look when its done ;D

Wheels = PERFECT Tyre profile = PERFECT Slight drop on rear = PERFECT More drop on front = PERFECT Don't get the wheels refurbed yet - run them as they are and get all the clearance/rubbing issues sorted before spending out on getting the wheels mint. They look pretty presentable as they are. How much meat is there in the back face of the alloy? (the part that mounts to the hub) If there is enought metal there, have the face milled/lathed down to bring the wheels in a bit - esp. on the front if clearance/poke is an issue. This will be cheaper than modding the arches and also allow you to go lower. A bit of rake on your car would look great, so a little less drop needed on the back. I'm looking to get a set of wheels machined down myself and it's fine to remove the rear face as long as you are left with enough metal (approx 8-10mm) from the bottom of the taper to the mounting face. My vote was for Alleycat's with current tyre size (matched to a nice drop) ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I have voted for allycats with the same size tyres, and I agree with everything MM says ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

What they said, plus, did you say what size the tyres are? how about a thinner tyre at the front, for a wee bit more stretch? Looks great side on in the photoshop though, very fresh retro car ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

Thanks for the photoshop MM, it looks awesome that low! Love your idea about shimming the inside of the alloy. I will check the depth of the centre tomorrow, and the space to the Calliper to see what could come off. New tyre is a 185/60. Standard is 175/70. Not after anymore stretch to be honest.

the pics from front and pic: winning. new rubber always looks great. but the ally on the rear, i don't like. however i like it on the front. so, IMO, you need to rake it somewhat, get the allys tucked in a little via milling the hubs or wheels, or stretch, or a teensy bit of arch roll, and run the standard wheels and tyre size on the rear. Hawt. much like my estelle tbh, but it'll work on this too ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Dunno about the rake, but it would definitely look good with the alleycats, and lowered more.

Personally, I think they sit a bit too far out unless you're going to employ a bit of stretch, some lowering and maybe even a bit of negative camber. If you're prepared to make those (admittedly rather trendy) modifications though, you're looking at being the owner of the most stancetaststic Dolly or Toledo ever!

C'mon Guys, over 200 views and only 17 votes. Get voting! Thanks for comments so far, I'm edging towards the Allycats, for the sake of pushing the current Triumph boundaries.

No no, they look all wrong. I'll take them off your hands for the Dolly though! ;-) Seriously I like them, I know the Dolly forum has seemed to go for the Sprint Alloys but I think these look good. Do you know the offset? I have a set of 14" Compomotive CXs 6J that I've done a quick refurb on and have trial fitted to the front only (silly I know forgot to try the back!). These were -38 offset and seemed OK. They currently sport 195/60 tyres and seem to fill the front arch quite nicely and offer a bit more rubber than the 175/70 on the standard Sprint. No idea how heavy the steering will be once on though. May go for 175 or 185 at the front and keep the 195 on the rear if they squeeze in.
Regards wheel nuts, I found the Leyland DAF vans have tapered nuts of the right size for my Dolly and got a full set of 20 off one at a scrappy for a few £. You might be lucky and find one as well.

As a design,i prefer the triumph wheels, but size and offset,i prefer the look of the allys if you can get then tucked a bit more. There....that's not much help. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Too wide at the front for me ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) but if you spaced out the rear to match and had a slight stretch on them, then I'd say they'd probably look the danglies

I have tracked down a set of 6 inch wheels from a TR7 forum. I will now hopefully be using those 6" allycats on the front, bringing the track in, and keeping the 7"s for the rear. A lot of effort but I love Allycats and they are not on any other Toledo or Dolly that I know of so worth the effort!

Those Compomotives look awesome! The gold is brilliant with the car colour and the whole effect makes the car very different and classy.

skinny ones on front sound ideal. I've not voted BTW, skinnys on front and necessary stance adjustments should sort it really.

I am an Alleycat fan and think that they look the business as a wheel. On your car though I personally think that they look a little lost due to being a bit wide for the car. Unless you could get the arches made to make them sit in more I would stick with the standard wheels and get them shod with 185/60 tyres ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) .
