Hi peeps ! Bit of a dilemna , Have been removing the decals (stickers) From the side panels of my FZR600 & i need to remove the gluey residue that is left behind . I have tried Nail polish remover but this just seems to slightly dislodge it . I need something to dissolve it , but not the panel underneath .....
Any Ideas ?
I don't want to spend loads of dosh on the wrong product .
Cheers

It might take a bit more elbow grease, but I find decent quality car polish does the trick.

Removed a load of 80s graphics from the side of the Polo on Saturday and used petrol to clean all the glue off. Worked a treat and it's cheap(ish).

petrol? cheap? don't start that one again you can buy a product called 'sticky stuff remover' from them catalogues you get pushed through your door and collected by some old dear who stands chatting for hours. it removed sticky stuff quite well (as you'd expect) and i used it on my Golf without any paint damage - it was a base white though, no fancy metallics so try it somewhere out of the way first. i've gotta take off the residue from my go-faster stripes and the 'rocco storm' decals (i already peeled the 'Sci' off) sometime.... only been there since RCS!

Just remember to put a good layer or two of polish over the top once you have removed all the vinyl.

I'm Going to spray the panels afterwards , I could have sanded it off , but why make more mess & work than needed =) I kinda fancy a wacky 1970's style metalflake orange or purple or lime green , Like you used to see on the bumper cars & fairground rides ..... Might look o.k , then again it might look pants !! . At least all the panelwork is plastic , The tank has a fake cover . =)

180b ss in da house: At least all the panelwork is plastic
I'm dealing with this every day beeing an Aprilia motorcycle dealer. When removing stickers and glue from MC plastics, stay away from using alchohol, gasoline, nail polish remover or other strong liquids that can ruin the plastic parts, be verry carfull if you do. Someone pointed out that WD40 or 5-56 works real good and that's the only thing we use to remove glue from decals on plastic pats, it's only problem is that it has a small amount of silicone in it so if you are painting make sure to go over all parts with a silicone remover (paintshops have it) or you'll be in big problems with your paint, paint will NEVER stick to silicone.....
Good Luck....
