I have a set of 7" Allycats which I want to put on my car. Am looking to put 185 or 195 width tyres on. Does anyone have any idea if a 185 will be stretched too much over a 7"? Ideally I would like to use 185 on the fronts and 195 on the back, but if 185 will give too hard a ride because they are stretched then I should go 195 all around (if they fit under the arches). Cheers

I reckon that a 185 on a 7"should be fine...very little stretch, if any. Here's some 185/60 on a 7x13: None of those look like they're going to be detrimental to ride quality to me!

Are they 13s? If so you'll either have to go with 185s all round or 195's all round - the reason is because the smallest 185 you can get is a 185/55, and the only 195 tyre in 13" is 195/45. Hence if you put 185/55 on the front and 195/45 on the rear the rear tyre will be a lot smaller in diameter so will look daft.

They were standard fit on R5GTTs IIRC. EDIT: Mytyres throws up a 195/55.

Oh I thought they'd been discontinued. Might be OK then.

Semperit are continentals "cheap" brand, decent enough tbh.
Uniroyal are also supposed to be quite decent.

They are indeed 13" rims, sorry forgot to mention that. 185/60's seem to be about right I think. This will give only a 4% drop in rolling circumfurance from the 175/70 on there at the moment, and not risk taking anything away from the handling by adding too much width. Not going for the stretched look, purely because they sound a bit dangerous for proper driving, they are alright if you just want to cruise but funnily, I want to drive my car like it was designed for.
