Well, thanks to Briandamaged posting up on the Events & Meetups section, I heard there was a bit of a gathering occuring this morning at Hopwood Services, J2 of the M42. As I live not 5 minutes from there, it seemed a bit rude not to turn up and take a peek. It was a great turnout and there was some quality stuff there. I've just snapped the RR friendly type stuff really - the out of the ordinary kinda stuff we all like here. Apologies for the lack of quality - who the hell goes up to this sort of thing but forgets his camera?! Ah well, Nokia 6300 with low battery FTW! Who's the imposter in the modern Frog box?! Modern I know . . . but interesting. Hmm. I'll be honest, I was hoping he'd gone for a Turbo lump too. Well, he had, but it was the one it came with - the derv one. Interesting homebrew Veg-oil kit going on though - separate tank in boot with pre-heater. Caged-up Maestro Turbo. Me likey. Loving the rims too - just close enough to the cross-spokes it came with but different enough too. Who's the in the Ramones T?! I wondered if this was a skit on the VW Harlequin jobbies for a minute. But no, I think he's just mid-way through a TF update! What are these rims? Nice to see summat different on an MGB. Loved this Mini. Think it's between this and the caged-up Maestro for my faves of the day. Torquay on the numberplate as well - that's a good 'ol trek. Not the best of pics to show why I took it but, it was petrol, that's an intercooler and . . . it was an estate. Nice. Oh yeah, and the guy's got his thumb up too. No sign of BD's BX wagon when I got there so I'm presuming he went straight to Cofton Park. Perhaps some more piccies to follow then . . .

I was at Hopwood.... And I was at Cofton Park: Cracking day out, I think the final count was something in the region of 400 cars split roughly 66/33 between modern MG Rovers/MGF's and older stuff. Great to see lots of cross-pollination between restorers, modifieds and out-and-out bling wagons, with plenty of mutual admiration going on. Congrats to the volunteers at the Rover Community Action Trust and at Austin Ex-Apprentices who put it all together. Briefly bumped into Lankytim and Mr & Mrs Phenomenator (Mrs. P's A55 was to have been finished but isn't painted yet), also had a chinwag with John Lakey of CO-OC (and friend of our very own Seth) after helping push his A60 out of the mud... ;D More photos to come, but there's a good reason for not posting any more just yet.

Excellent stuff. I spoke to John on Friday so knew he'd be there. He does look in here from time to time I think - might even have registered. Look forward to more photos

that allegro is quite nice, bigfoot style.
The rest pretty much sums up the sorry state of 'british' modified cars

Well BD, you did say you'd hide the BX - you obviously did a good job of it! Course, we've never met in person, so chances of me recognising you were rather slim! Was a good turnout. Agree with Weblefeck that it would've been nice to have had a Rover and joined in properly.

OK. Want more? Tasty Wolseley 18/85 Landcrab on SD1 Alloys Rare early 1500SDL Allegro with Quartic wheel intact. It's nuttin' but an A-Thang. ;D 'Sorry state of modified British cars' Erm...OK, but looking at stuff like this fine Mini doesn't really leave me feeling THAT disappointed. 50's MG badge-engineered saloon fodder.. 60's MG badge-engineered saloon fodder.. 80's MG badge-engineered saloon fodder. Proper Minis are square. Immaculate VDP Maestro. More here: www.flickr.com/photos/damaged23/sets/72157616896066341/And there are more than that.....but you'll have to wait for those as 1. My computer's dead...so I'm posting this on my inlaws' PC and 2. There just might be a further selection in a well-known weekly newspaper, on sale on Thursday priced at £2.20.

Course, we've never met in person, so chances of me recognising you were rather slim! That's the first time anyone's mentioned me and the word 'slim' in the same sentence since about 1982. ;D EDIT: Check me out, I'm 6000-man. ;D

Go back and look....I posted them on there ages ago!!!! Couldn't see them. Did a search for farm4.static.flickr.com/3582/3452372591_5a4c34cdcf.jpg and briandamaged and nothing came up. I think Flickr uses different URLs and there is no way of matching them up as far as I can see. :-(
