not too far at all. it's not smelly in warrington tho Ouch! ;D Not many of those Corollas left now I bet... Where did they all go? Thrashed and trashed? Is the engine the same as the AE86 and MR2? As for "most underrated hot hatch", I'd nominate the MG Maestro

Hello Twincam,.. welcome to the board ,.. nice ride MrS I've currently got a hankering for sticking an MR2 engine in a 914 ,.. all I need to get is both cars for free and someone with more time and space to put them together for me

Hi Twincam!
The AE82 is 4-AGE powered and as you clever chaps have already noted appeared in the good old AE86 and MR2.

ah no worries ive worked out whose car this used to be... and there is an interesting story that goes with it to:)
basically my mate used to own this car, it was a shitbox that he bought back from a scrappies for £25. and basically did a no cost restoration with it. amazing work to restore it from its scrapyard dwelling status.. still looks nice now from the looks of it.

right on both counts ;D i bought it off him last november. i sourced the bodykit trim that was missing, put the red stripe back through it, got the rear wheelarch sorted, got the exhaust done, put the wheels on it, and the kyb dampers, put 2 new rear calipers on it and some other maintainance stuff. so what with everything he did, (i.e most of it!) it's well and truly sorted now. this is the 2nd one i've had now, and I'm still enjoying it ;D

yeah i texted my mate and he said glad to hear its still in nice condition. was saying when he first rescued it it really wasnt worth saving from the state of it. glad he did though cos thats a nice looking motor you got mate.
ive got a website bookmarked somewhere of an AE82 meet in japan should provide "food for thought" or just a website to stare at in awe. ii'll dig the site out in a bit

i still speak to him occasionally, as he goes on the toyota owners club site every now and again (that's how i found the car). that 20v AE86 he's building must be a beast yeh, that site would be great to see, ta

yeh his 20v is finished, he broke the standard diff in the first few days of having it back on the road. hes got a 2way item to go in now.
funnily enough he has an ae82 again. a hand me down from family, made it into a few magazines driving it at a castle combe action day. cos he was running rings round impreza's and other modern rubbish. shows what good little cars the 82's are. its a shame i only realise things are really good by the time they have already become rare

yeah, it was his mum's, wasn't it? when i went to pick up E602 ANJ, it was there then - there were 3 white AE82s outside one house, how rare must that be ;D i saw it somewhere - retro cars? i'll be getting my student loan money through soon and I'm beginning to get a bit bored with the performance. i dunno what to do really... thinking about getting some cams. but then i think i'll probably never see the money back, and i don't know how long i'll keep the car, so...

wonder if a 4agze will go in a frontdriver (for all i know it can and has been done?)
.. what you can do mate is if you spend money modding the engine.. you can always sell that engine to someone with an ae86 especially over in ireland probably get a fair chunk back then.

Hiya, welcome along. I drive to work in Warrington each day so might see you around at some point. Look out for me in one of three VW's, all green - a Mk2 Golf, Mk1 Polo or Lupo 16v Btw - I agree about the smell in Widnes!
