Bought this beastie off Donttellhimpike in March. Back then it had no MOT, ran a bit rough and had been off the road a while.
So with the assistance of fellow forum member Bignut I had the thing sitting at home not long after.
First thing was to deal with a list of the obvious flaws, to wit, two bald tyres and a blowing exhaust.
gungum at the ready, I tackled the blow and got a couple of part worns, swapped them onto the front and job done.
The alloys were pretty well welded to the hubs which made the job fun...
Gave the car a full service...
then off for the MOT...
apart from a flat battery issue.
the terminals were just a little corroded up. But in the end a new battery was needed anyway.
then the exahust fell in half...
nutsacks.
So I got that welded back together and got the rest of the MOT work done. new brake lines, welding to the sills and the rear chassis legs, new rack boots and some other misc suspension rubber items.
voila! 12 months MOT.
On my way home from the MOT the car started running rough... very rough...
Renner owning RRer PaulB knows his EFI and came and looked over it for me as I was mystified.
So was he.
So I got the car dragged up to my mate's garage to have them look over it, which they duly did and now I'm £120 poorer, none the wiser but at least the car runs more or less right!
I've started on a "wash and brush up" programme for the car as it was utterly filthy inside and out, I'll cover that in another post to this thread I guess.
So now I just need to deal with the obvious faults...
* speedo u/s
* stereo u/s
* wheel centres missing
* electric aerial stuck
* one headlamp wiper is missing
* screen wash looks like jism and smells of mashed potatoes. Every time I operate them I am given the impresion of Ron Jerremy in hard core in a Smash commercial. not nice.
Other than that...
Its in use...
