I've got a set of wheels that have been polished (well, a machined fine diamond turned finish) then lacquered, but there are a few water marks under the laquer. Seeing as the surface is good, I want to minimise the work I have to do by using a chemical stripper to take off the laquer before polishing them, this way I can just go ahead and polish the diamond turning out (Not a lot of work) rather than having to bring them up to a 1500grit from whatever abrasive I used to take the paint off.
Will nitromorse react with the aluminium and make it go dull? I know a lot of acids can, but I'm unsure how Nitromors works. Cheers

Ive done this before but a while ago.
I seem to remember it was fine. Just used some fine wet and dry after to get rid of teh turning patterns then polished.

I've put it on polished ally and its fine, just put it on as per instructions on the tin - dab it on and wash it off after a while. I also used it on a helmet. Nitromors and plastics don't appear to mix too well ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

What they said^
Just stripped the lacquer of an ATS cup and it didn't affect the alloy at all.
I didn't know that before I started! Just took a chance and it turned out OK for once!

Well I went to get some nitromors and realised I was flat broke. not a penny to my name, so came home with my tail between my legs.
Found a tin of the spray on stuff under the sink, says "not for removing paint from car body panels" but I thought sod it and I've given it a go.
I suppose we'll find out the damage in about 20 minutes!
