Just hooning around in the Bimmer today, it suddenly dawned on me as I was filling it up at the pump (by "filling it up" I mean putting £10.01p in it and praying it lasts me the week)...
Should I be using Super in this thing? 1988 e34 525i...
Any thoughts?

I am made of money. If 1p's count.
That's a relief then - don't have to pay three figures per litre quite yet! ;D

You could also use LRP as well so if the expected fuel blockades do cause the same disruption as last time while all the filling stations run out of diesel and unleaded you can still happily fill up (if you cant find a station still supplying it that is)

Is the required grade not written inside the filler cap? It is on mine.

Is the required grade not written inside the filler cap? It is on mine. Quite possibly Nick - All I've done with the thing is buy it and drive it... not had much chance to look around it. It seems happy enough on 95RON, and my budget doesn't stretch to Super 98, so for the few weeks that I'll have it (it's up for sale for £250 if anyone's interested), it'll do me!

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
