I've been sorting through stacks and stacks of literally thousands of old car brochures and stuff, weeding out duplicates for eBay (hey! 5p listing day today ) and I thought I'd scan a couple of images in. When did you last see a Viceroy?

And finally for now, has anyone ever seen one of these in real life? They are totally new to me! Like a miniature VW LT... I'm convinced that I have never seen one, ever.

I haven't seen any of those in the flesh in ages, I've seen the odd BX but never with that kit on. The others are pretty cool though, and I like BXs when they look a little more stock. I seem to remember a Spanish connection with the Ebro, but I'm not sure, I think they were built in Spain, and named after a River in Spain, or am I right off?

I think you're not far off Rev. I believe Nissan were share holders of the Spanish Ebro company, and took them over totally in the eighties. The Spanish factories made the Patrol, the horrid Terrano and more recently Almera Tino(!) and sent them here.....but I don't think that many vans made it to UK shores - perhaps just a handful for evaluation. It is a genuine Ebro van with a Nissan badge though. Too much competition from Nissan's own vans I guess. File under 'Oddities' with Pampas and ARO..... Those Nissan Urvans on the other hand are much nicer though. Another Nissan curio is the Cherry Europe/Alfa Arna: It was supposed to combined the lush flat four alfa lump with Japanese build quality. The punters must have disagreed, as it seems to have combined Italian (sud) sloppy workmanship and disastrous reliability. Still would like one though!

One of my favourite "forgottens", the ARNA... Heh, not seen one in ages! Pub trivia: Arna is an acronym for Alfa Romeo Nissan Automobiles.... but you guys probably knew that!

I've seen a BX with that bodykit before. Makes it look like a quasi-Group-B mofo. Kind of like the aborted spawn of a Manta 400 and the Citroen BX 42C. *n

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Ebro also used to make the BMC J4 after it was replaced by the Sherpa. It was badged as an Ebro and had a plastic grille and rectangular headlamps.

I've been sorting through stacks and stacks of literally thousands of old car brochures and stuff, weeding out duplicates for eBay (hey! 5p listing day today ) and I thought I'd scan a couple of images in. When did you last see a Viceroy? These are still quite common in OZ and NZ - badged as a Holden Commodore with a better looking grill.

These are also common aka Nissan Pulsar thought all ones I have seen have a Nissan engine.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I know where there's one of those EBRO thingies lurking... it's not long been retired from active service. I shall endeavour to snap some pics of it!
Those Cherry Europe / Alfa Arna's are a strange one... must have been interesting development meetings between the J & Italian executives ;D When I was a lad, a mate's dad had a Cherry Europe... top of the range sporty one - the coolest thing evAR (at the time).
