In case any of you had missed it, I'm breaking a Herald, over in the "Parts for sale" section. I find I've got two Herald interiors, a red 1200 one and the blue one from this 13/60. Looking at the rear seats, I can't help thinking with a fairly simple wooden frame I could make a mini sofa using Herald rear seat base and squab. Imagine these with a wooden frame. Trouble is, I can't help thinking I'm going to end up with a tiny, uncomfortable and a bit scabby sofa that SWMBO won't have in the house. Worth it, Y/N? No, don't bother, I know what the answer will be.

I'm sure it's been done with a Herald rear end. Trouble is, this Herald's too scabby, there's too much air and not enough metal in those rear valances and the rear wings are all crusty. To answer your question, my SWMBO is tough on such matters

Do it, make a nice job of it, if wifey doesn't like it, use it in your garage or flog it on:)

My mate's old farmhouse had an outbuilding converted to a bar and every seat came from a car. He made a belter of a sofa from Volvo GLT rear seats. I'd say do it. If anything, a Herald buff would probably like it and give you something for it, which could then go back into the project kitty(or buy SWMBO a nice pressie )

As well as my two scabby Herald interiors I have a pile of pallets originally destined to be firewood. Maybe I'll give it a go then

Forget the cliche of making one out of the back end of a Herald.
Look up the designer Ron Arad and see what he did with an old car seat. That'll convince you. The Mrs won't be able to argue because it's one of the coolest chairs EVER! (I have a bit of a thing for chairs!)
It's a shame that Clarkson had a cheap, tacky, nasty replica on the set of Top Gear, but nonetheless, get it right and it'll look the biz. The seat pads you've got are made for it!

you mean the car seats fitted to a metal set of D frames, like a fold out bed frame eitherside of a car seat, cant say as I like them. don't like the seat covering but prefer this

Top of wings and rear deck are surprisingly not crusty. I've removed the brightwork round the lights as I was dismantling the car but that's simply a case of pushing it back in place. I'll get some pics together for you.

Exactly my thoughts, each to their own but the Herald bodywork sofa isn't my thing (edit) I should point out, those seats above aren't the ones I've got, they're from a retrimmer's website. Both my interiors aren't too bad but they're grubbier than that.

Sofa aside, The Herald rear tub would look amazing on a trike ;D Classy with plenty storage space I like the chairs MysteryMachine posted. If the cushions get knackered then the rails can be adjusted to take new ones from a different motor. Well smart, they are!
