...and identify it. I'm not great on obscure identification myself, but I've seem some truly obscure motors named on here, most of which I've never even heard of. So, come on and let's do what Barry Boys couldn't... put a make and model to it. And... I think it'd be an excellent ride with sorted mechanicals, a sort of double Q car, anyone would be thinking WTF when you pull up next to them, and WTF again when disappears into the sunset at high speed

not really, there were a couple of suggestions in the original thread which I read at home this morning, and by the time I got to work it had (quite rightly) been WB'd.
I'm genuinely curious to know what people think it was.
And please, no negativity, so this doesn't get WB'd...

I was actually wondering if the guy had a plan to change the mechanicals in something that already exists and had just bodged this body work together to get a ticket before doing whatever it was he knew he wouldnt get through the test.

Hmmm... after more picture perusal it seems the original photographer managed to miss any interesting mechanical bits As said, it does seem to have a spaceframe at the back, and the front calipers look to be the 'wrong' way round (I thought they usually live at the 'back' of the disc???) General outline would suggest a straight 6 RWD???

Is that a Vauxhall badge on the steering wheel?

It's defo a Vauxhall steering wheel, stalks and gear stick. Do any 80's vauxhalls have seperate chassis? It could it be a Carlton or Senator under all that given the length of it.

The "intercooler" identified by the Barrboys car "enthusiasts" is actually an oil cooler. I dunno where the YB idea has come from. I reckon it's a straight-six Vauxhall Senny under all that, judging by the 5-stud wheels and Vaux steering wheel, and the long wheelbase. I also wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a wind-up.

At first I thought it could be one of those "test concept" cars that are deliberately altered to fool the press when road-testing... Couldn't place any familiar bits myself.

TBH I don't think the gearstick does look like a vauxhall.
Exhaust is the wrong side for the straight 6 too unless its been looped under the sump.
Correct side for a vauxhall 4 banger though.
My brake calipers are on that side of the wheel? Didnt know any were the other way?

I think it could be a Vauxhall Calibra, indicator stalks, steering wheel and side repeaters.
Oh they're 5 stud too (4x4) and the brakes are the right orientation, and the wing mirrors??

That's what I thought when I saw it, Maybe a Turbo 4x4 model? It also looks like it has a Mondeo gearknob and have you noticed that the front wheels are lined up straight but the steering wheel is completely off centre, Wonder if it's tracked at all?
