its all going a bit Pete Tong at the moment. Realised the other week that i hadnt had the new V5 sent through from when i bought the benz. Sent off the docs to the DVLA and had to pay cos i couldnt find the green slip. Then realised tax is up end Aug, and the MoT must be with the green slip cos i cant find that either!
New V5 arrived the other day, still no tax renewal form, but i cant find the MoT for love nor money. Will anywhere have a record of it, or am i going to be forced to get a new one??

If you know where the MoT was carried out you can get a duplicate. I don't think you even have to know the precise garage, just the town or area it was done. There is a fee for this though, and it might be just as easy to find a garage with a "special offer" on and have it re-tested. HTH

hmmmm.
I would have thought VOSA would have it on record, then it's just a case of getting a duplicate cert from the place that tested it.....
That said, VOSA are useless chimps at the best of times.

I think VOSA are in the process of doing this right now. The system is going computerised, so expect it all to go t*ts up pretty spectacularly! There are already huge problems with garages only being able to log on every 45 minutes. This, of course, doesn't fit in with the reality of trying to make money and do MOT tests that do not always take EXACTLY 45 minutes, etc., etc. Half-baked, then! I'm

pnc wont find out if it has a mot.
i don't think so anyways, otherwise youd never have to produce your mot when you get produced :S

i thought nowadays a PNC thingy can see if you have an MOT or not, (just so happens been having a discussion on dodgy MOT's on another forum i go to, and someone said there is no point getting one through the post if the opportunity presented itself cos a pnc check would reveal the truth?

I think that is the case, and if its not, it will be very soon as soon as the computerised MOT database is working properly.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Not only that, but the garage can only log on to do a full test, so if you fail on something small, they can't just re-test you on the 1 item, you've got to pay for a full test. Also, if the test isn't conducted in exactly the right order, the garage loses it's licence, and guess what, emissions is the very first item, so if the engine's cold...........

Anyway, emissions was last. And whether they charge for a re-test it down to the garage, but they do need to do a full re-test. A lot of the info was written down as he did it though and then entered at the end, so in theory they could carry out the test in any order. Having just sorted the last of my problems I'm off for my re-test this afternoon. Fingers crossed.
