AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA spare bubbles for the spirit level!!! That's the best of the lot! An oldie but a goodie. I see the occasional apprentice come into work and request exactly that, and the left handed hammer is a common one as well. A ex-friend of mine did work experience at a cylinder head specialist some years ago, and used ot brag (no curse word!) about the "lumpy cams they did for 12A's." Needless to say, this guy didn't get anywhere in life...

How about a 3/16" metric spanner? Or sparks for the grinder?

My favourite is still the long stand. The amount of apprentices we have got with that is unbelievable. I cant believe people still fall for it.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

With regards to the spirit level guys the joke could be on you! Because the little glass cylinder part of the Sprit level that holds the liquid (and inturn the 'bubble') is called ..... A BUBBLE. ...and it is a replacement part which you can buy at any tool merchants Aah what a sad git I am! ;D

The metric adjustable spanner was always a favourite of mine ;D A pint of elbow grease, some sky hooks and telling the apprentice to change the air filter on a customers tuned 944 ;D The filter was behind the front bumper, we watched him search for hours

When the battery required replacing on the MGB GT a chap at the Tyre/exhaust/battery quick fit centre said he couldn't find where the battery was (he looked under the bonnet and in the boot ...it's under the rear squab!)

I too have worked in Halfords...I was asked to leave after I failed to produce a receipt for the new Superlites and 185/60s on my Herald. The fact that they didn't sell Superlites and had no stock missing in the tyre rack didn't seem to be enough proof that I hadn't stolen them. In their defence, being a younster at the time I was a bit cocky when they asked me which did rather aggrovate the situation!
