Hey. Local garage has got this (hideous) beast to recommission. Any ideas? Seems to have Mini Sprint proportions and is all fiberglass. Not feeling any love for it but it is old and odd. And for your troubles, a moderately sensible Mini awaing a heart transplant. Cheers.

That looks to be a Mini Minus bodyshell, or an earlier incarnation of one: www.miniminus.co.uk/These have also been built by Hawk Cars and Rally Sport replicas in the past. They were/are GRP copies of the old Stewart & Ardern MiniSprints from 1965/66: The one you've got seems to have been hit with the Really Ugly Stick though!! BTW I think those door handles are the ones fitted to the Australian Mini.

That does look fugly, but I do like the inside of it. Here's a 'special' that my mate's dad has but in a restoration state (chassis is fine mind you), a Unipower GT:

Oddly enough it is a hotchpot of bits. Window frame is from a GT6! Spaceframe chassis mind you, and despite it being RHS, the gearstick is to the right of you in the sill...

I remember this car being featured in Mini Magazine (possibly Mini World). A chap built it as an aerodynamic project iirc, would explain the lights , the bonnet shape and the door handles. I'm sure if you get onto the mini mags they will be able to point you in the right direction. Also I seem to remember this car had some sort of historical significance, could be wrong. Its certainly worth finding out more about it!

You'll have to excuse me 'coz I'm comleteley colourblind and only see grey, but isn't that bright yellow? If so, it's more than likely to be Snapdragon - Applejack is a greeney clour...

Isn't that Mr Bean's mini? I thought Mr Beans was a manual. I stopped reading Mini mags ages ago, so probably missed the article on this, but I do recall a fella building glassfibre mini shells back in the 90s. Hope you let us know any info you drag up on it though, including the bizarre front end!
