whilst I hate to admit it it's uses might just outweigh it's negative points. Anyone can drive down my road at anytime and see the same stuff. Google is a snapshot in time I'm lost on the "uses". Other than voyeuristic peeping, what are the uses exactly? It's not a map service, like Maps or Mapquest. It's a street-level photo album. I can think of about 100 mis-uses of such an amalgamation. Ah well, wait until someone's pretty young wife or daughter shakes off a stalker, parks out front the house, and is then tracked down by the stalker scanning up and down streets by use of this "service". Something he might be reluctant to do in person. I got 99 more. I guess it's an urban vs. rural thing again. Most of you guys are "conditioned" to accept privacy invasions of all sorts from your neighbors, councils, and polizei. I'm still a free person.

I'm still a free person. thats already happened Norm, according to the BBC news website, there have already been a couple of hundred complaints about people easily identified in their own front gardens, and someone coming out of a sex shop, these images have been removed. All faces are supposed to be obscured, but while looking at York street view the other night i spotted loads of easily recognisable faces.

Sorry but how the hell is a year old pic gonna help a stalker except to confirm somone was somewhere a year ago for 1 second in time? it'd be easyer and you'd cover many more seconds by just sitting in a car in the spot AND the info would not be a year out of date?

Because not all the views are a year old, one. Most people have the same car and house for more than a year, two. And, three, this is just V.1 of StreetView. It will get nothing but "more feature rich" as time goes by. As I said, time will come this will be available real time, as you can log on to Live Cams in a number of places already. When the cities and towns need revenue, I can easily see them selling off commercial rights to Government cameras which are ubiquitous now. And why not, will go the logic, after all, people have accepted Google StreetView. This will just be a more "timely" StreetView. I can see Google ponying up for that commercial contract. They have the $$. Camel's nose. Under. Tent. Slippery. Slope. I'll not post on this aspect in the thread again, not meaning to de-rail the thread. Just a visceral reaction rises in my blood to this Orwellian stuff. Norm
