Gearing up to start work again on the Benz (after over SIX MONTHS! ) but I need a pair of decent tin snips. I was using my bro's Snap-On ones which were a joy to use, but he has them back now! I don't have Snap-On money, but are there any other decent ones out there? I looked in Halfords to see if they did anything similar but they only have those basic "Tinman Shears" which aren't really what I'm after. This is the kind of thing I need: I think they're called Aviation Tin Snips. Grateful for any pointers!

I've got a couple of pairs of Weiss one's, they're about 15 years old but still cut through most things. Not sure how much they cost though.

With quality ones at those prices who'd bother with cheapo ones anyway?

Thanks! Just had a look at Wiss ones on eBay and they're under £15, which is pretty bargainous I think. Decent snips make the job that much nicer! I cannot stand those tinman shears - I've got at least two pairs and they're just horrible to work with. Once I'd used the Snap-On pair there was no going back! I'll be getting me a set o' them Wiss puppies I think. Thanks again for the advice

I've got machine mart ones and they are useless. I find a hand nibbler to be more effective but it knackers your forearms.

Never tried them but always thought those nibbler drill attachments looked good.

I never thought of nibblers aswell! That might make things even better. I'll look into those too! Thanks for all your suggestions, people

Wiss snips are the daddys for sure. As a ceiling fixer i've used them for 8yrs plus and my dad has used them since he started the firm in the early 80's. Obviously also excellent for cutting tin aswell as ceiling trim/bars etc

I just bought 2 pairs.. A left cut and a right cut.... Off Snap on. They are doing a deal and you get both for 35 quid. I have had my old snap on ones for 15 years and they just broke. Thats cheaper than cheap ones.

I like Gilbows too. I can't get on with those ones with the curved jaws.
