Hearing all the pub talk atm about scrap prices going back up, and cheeky chaps in Transits asking 'want that ol banger shifted, mate?'
Are they really going back up or is it just the usual pub BS?

It was £90 a ton in bradford 2 weeks ago, as for the gas bottles they would have to be cut in 2 to be weighed in.

If you take the valve out the top or stab a hole in them then they take them. Careful you don't blow yourself up mind..
Not worth the hassle, unless you have one you need to get rid of. The local tip wont touch them!

There have been a lot of scrap vans prowling my area lately. I got one of them to shift the massive amount of scrap that had accumulated at my place.
As we were shifting the stuff I mentioned that scrap prices must be going up. "No no mate, still worth f*ck all..." Oh right, so you're just doing this for fun then? Come on, it's not as if I'm gonna get mad because they're making money. Jeez.
I don't think scrap will be worth anything like what it was last year - China's stopped building for the Olympics, production of other goods has fallen due to the recession...

I don't think scrap will be worth anything like what it was last year - China's stopped building for the Olympics, production of other goods has fallen due to the recession... I can back that up, I'm a crane driver at Felixstowe docks (UK's Biggest container port) and last year we was busy shipping out all the scrap metal (our biggest export) but this year it's dead, We aren't even getting any ships in and the container park is empty, Harsh times...
