He must be a car enthusiast under the apparent stupidity, and I'd rather watch stuff like Wheeler Dealers than East-Enders. That said, I watched the Capri episode of WD last night...the one where Ed (who does know his stuff) rattle cans the front end with rather naff results. Mike suggests it would've been better with a 'full metal respray' Still £945 spent, £700 sale isn't their worst one. At least they're honest. In summary, if I met Mike in the flesh, I'd still shake his hand and buy him a drink (actually, I wouldn't buy him a drink...but that's 'cos I'm a skinflint!).

i do like wheeler dealers in much the same way - it's better than 90% of the curse word on tv. i tend to tune out of his annoying cockney voice and just watch it though.
i must admit to enjoying the one where they buy the suzuki sj410, have to put a new engine in, respray the whole thing then it fails the mot with massive holes in the rear floor and they lose hundreds on it. wiped the smile off his chimpy face.

They made a massive loss on that Mini. The guy they sold it to at the end of the show was a sound man or something, it was a complete farce. They actually sold it back to the guy they bought it from for mot much more than they paid for it They just didn't want to be seen to fail

anyone watch that "used car roadshow" on M&M.............talk about low budget TV !!!!!
Brewer in my opinion is a TV presenter stuck in the 80's way of presenting car shows............he just memorises the spec list & spouts it out.

Didn't he used to be on deals on wheels in the 90's? Didn't think D on W was too bad for a C4 production (but wounder how 'true' a lot of the people/sellers etc. were )

I was watching Wheeler Dealer last night too...
the one with the blue MX5, really funny, he was talking to the protentiel seller about the wheels, and he said, 'yeah, it has got these really nice compomotives'
when, on the wheel, it said, ENIKI!!! durgh!
And, on the credits to Wheeler Dealer, it says,
Presenters: Mike Brewer, Ed ...
Mechanic : Some name, not Ed's
I thought Ed was the mechanic?!
Then I watched Revvved Up...Christ, he must be desperate for money to be doing chav shows now...they spent 20k doing up a MG ZR 105 and by the end of it, it was only marginally quicker that it started out...an extra 20bhp or something!!!

The sj410 was brilliant he went to all the trouble of building and welding in that roll cage but aparently didnt notice there was no floor in it! The mini was bad as well, repairing a £4 A pannel. As for revved up well, even his cockney nobheadness charm cant cover up the fact that he is embarrased at having to say " putting these 26" rims on the MG really improved the handling" and he doesnt belive in it. Totally destroyed any credibility he ever had (which wasnt a lot)

Yeah Ed was meant to be the mechanic, he was in early shows, he's obviously just there for looks now since he's started doing bits to camera. it's a shame cos he was the one geniune part of the show, really knows his stuff.

Maybe I should play Devil's Advocate here..... When I was working in the British International Motor Show press office I spent quite some time talking with him.... And I found him to be a car enthusiast who did know his stuff and unlike certain other presenters wasn't just interested in Athena-poster supercars!
Nor did he write a certain Ferrari book which left him out of pocket...

Yeah - I'd go along with this Richy. I've met Mike and I thought he was a decent bloke. He even bought me a beer... Clarkson never did that. There is worse out there - Tony Mason for one. Stick to navigating Tony...
