A super rare Daihatsu Charade GTti Cabriolet (looks a bit like an early Golf cabriolet) came up for sale on eBay, I was geared up to buy it, had plans to modify it in a cheesy old skool late 80's early 90's way, shiny BBS spokes, fancy old tape deck, respray black, red pinstripes. But then the car I've got now came up for sale. Wish I could have afforded both. I still have this picture I photoshopped, it was silver but this is with black respray and also some little rectangle spotlamps. Rest is standard, it looks really low but it wasn't lowered, it was just like that. If anyone sees it for sale again let me know please!!

I just missed out on the mother of all bargains, although it wasn't my fault, had I been told about it sooner I'd have bought it. A girl not far from me was selling an almost immaculate, very original early UK spec Mazda MX5 for £250! You read that right, two hundred and fifty! Now normally I wouldn't consider one of those, not bad cars but not normally my thing, but considering they're worth considerably more than that I could have taken that up to the motor auctions in Glasgow and made myself some much needed cash to pay for various bits the Imp needs, or even kept the thing and stuck an RX7's rotary in there, I even know where there's a vandalised RX7 not far from here, the windows are all gone but the engine's fine. You could've made a real sleeper out of that sort of thing, but she never mentioned she was selling the thing to me until the same day that she sold it, so by the time I went round to have a better look at it it was gone. Other than that there's a 60s Karrier Bantam tanker (a tiny two axle rigid lorry that's similar in style to a 60s Commer only much smaller, this SWB one was no longer than a Volvo 240 I'd say and hardly wider, a petrol engined one.) that I nearly bought as a restoration project, but changed my mind when I realised I had nowhere to keep a lorry really, probably couldn't afford the project, and it wasn't in as good condition as I would've liked, I was going to get it, take the tank off, and with a bit of mild body fabrication I was going to make a transporter to to take my racer Imp to events and stuff, this was after the DVLA had told me my racer was not going back on the road, but beforeI decided to reshell it using my current Imp, which I'm doing at the moment. Shame really, it was a horrendously impractical project but I still wish I'd bought it. Other than that there are a thousand motors on ebay in the past and at present that I'd love but will never have!

BMW e30 325i about 5 years ago. Oddly, the bank refused to lend me the £4000 the guy wanted for it at the time.
Lovely example it was, brilliantrot with 17inch rims...... hmmm, sounds familiar!
Another DOH! moment was again about 5-6 years ago, when my mum & dad's next door neighbour offered me a fully-functioning early 8-seater type 25 bus for £100. I turned the airbrick down as I was too blinkered to see the potential of something that wasn't a 'real' VW camper. What a curse word!
There's plenty more I've kicked myself over, especially bay-related!!

The mk2 golf syncro that was in a local traders spot, slammed on coilovers over p-slots. Bit tatty but had character. I thought it was a bit risky at 800 quid, and didnt want a gas-guzzler with 250+ miles a week. I really want one now tho !

There arent many I didnt buy ;D ;D The only two that spring to mind were a MK3 tina 2000E automatic that was in Big Mikes at Darlington ;D ;D The other was a Datsun 180Y (I think). I looked at both around the same time 12/13 year ago Cant remember what I bought instead but I have a feeling it was a 1.1 MK£ escort

Not cheap, but I was offered an Alfa SZ in about 1997 for £17,000 I decided to go for a Corrado G60 for £12,000 instead... if I'd've had the SZ they're worth about £25k now, the Corrado I sold 3 years ago for £3k .... :boohoo:
