was a mixed day. Morning was good, the rain held off and there were plenty of cars to see, especially in the main area where a short wander turned up three 131 Abarths, 2 R5 T2's, an 037, six swb quatts plus about 100 UR quatts. Loads of 6R4's, 2 T16's, a TR8, Mitsubishi and scooby WRX cars, a couple of mid engined clio's, a 12 Gordini, plus more scoobies and evo's tahn you could shake a stick at.
By lunchtime it was weeing down but a huge array of group B machinery took to the track to show how it used to be done. It was weird though to see a WRX 206 looking visibly faster than a T16 or any of the Grp B cars, as was the Evo WRX. 6R4's sounded fantastic though, as did the rothmans porsche cars.
On the track the brother McRae were hooning around in a couple of Mk 2 escorets with nissan twink power (!) doughnutting all over the place, in the middle of live track sessions. How cool to be overtaken by a Mcrae though!
I had a track sesh booked for 4.10, by which time the rain had eased but the track was still like an ice rink! Grip was close to zero and on the first lap an Integrale hit the tyre wall nicely! The next lap one of the PSOOC pugs was in the same place facing backwards while another acheived a whole 720 on the main straight. The 205 I was chasing slid off onto the infield before spinning into my path and hitting the brakes to avoid it sent me sideways too, leaving me side on along the start finish line!
So after that they closed the session as it was obvioulsy going to be fatal out there.
A great day, but too many scoobs not enough retro stuff.

Took my camera but it was rubbish. Old digital so v.slow shutter response, cack for action shots and got too wet to venture out of the PSOOC tent. Have 3/4 including an 8 wheeled Tatra rally support truck having a laugh just for rev9

Wow! - that looked like an excellent event, shame it rained later on Was it on, on the Sunday aswell? Certainly one for the diary next year. Loving all the cars in the above pics - I couldn't possibly pick a favourite P.S; Glad to hear that nothing bad happened as a result of your spin 104ZS - sounds like it was a good decision to stop the session - it couldn't have been much fun splashing about in the rain

SWB Quattro's, what is it about them! All the boys love them but you could hear all the girls going "but it's ugly" They all love the 205 T16 though!! The coolest thing was that all the rall cars on the track were the real deal, no replicas here, just original machinery being thrashed to within an inch of its life. TR8 looked a right handful. Tony Pond must have been some kind of mad hero!
The McRae brothers escorts were just awesome. So well built with some weird bits. v. sideways!!

that Estelle rally car is a genuine Belgium ex works car that has just been restored, belongs to an SOC club member from Kings Lynn. He also owns a couple of very rare 1960's Felicia convertibles and has just sold his 1960's Octavia rally replica

IT was the true rally experiance,,,Loud Race fuel and the PI$$i*g rain,,lol ;D was good to meet 104 and i spotted some other cars from here such as racer86's chevette, looked sweet gleaming in the carpark. i was up there with a few mates. kris (minion) and i got soaked while watching the group bs go through the chicane before avon rise and then moved up to quarry where were treated to Galli throwing off his WRC evo into the tyres, he was having some getting it sideways but then had a bit too much and ouch, in true rally style bounced it of the limiter found reverse and got it back on track. was loads of mega cars there got loads of pics ill have to get a couple on here later. Laters WEST edited due to very poor spelling damn my fingers

Some great stuff there, looks like it was a great show! If it's the same one then I've saw Colin McRae's mkII before, it was white then, and I was sure it had a seriously modded Zetec engine, but otherwise it sounds like the same motor, six speed sequential box, five or six-linked rear suspension, almost every part renovated, customised or replaced, right? I must dig out the photos I got of it a few years ago at the McRae Forest Stages in Perth to see if it's the same motor, I think the plates are the same.

ta daarrrrr ; Colins was running a Scooby rear end set up with rose jointed everything it really was awsome. I think the nissan twink in the black mk2 was an ex touring car motor out of a Primera! looking at various pics Gigli Gali(sp) stuffed it on his 2nd lap and a stunning Group B Quattro stuffed it too. So i think the 104 did very well with just a little spin!
