Nankang make some very good budget tyres. They also make some proper ditchfinders How can anyone say all Nankangs are bad when they make so many different compounds and patterns? Without saying which tyre were talking about. Different compounds for different applications. Ive run NS1 and NS2 and they were great tyres. Very grippy in the dry and not abysmal in the wet. A little road noise, but no more than most mid range tyres. And they last very well. And they do make some interesting sizes

165/55 13 NS2s on my old Wellers. I'd never experienced wheel spin in my 40bhp polo until I fitted these!! I wouldn't fit them to anything i was going to drive hard, but for a budget good looking tyre they weren't too bad.

We have NangKangs on a couple of our cars. Nowt wrong with them in any weather.
In fact the ones on the Cinq are an old Yokodrama tread pattern... and cost £32 each.
Read past the designer-badge-label snobbery on some of the forums and you'll find a lot of folk run them by choice.

I had 205/40/17's on my civic, and they were rubber bands (and also wibblepoo tyres)
165/35/17 is just mental :-)

I've used many a Nankang tyre, can't remember what tread patterns though. All have been 195/55/15 or 205/50/15 and they've been superb in all weathers! Having said that my cars have all had excellent suspension components and I've never had to blame a lack of driving skill on my tyres.

ive got the 165/55s on several cars and they are spot on really.
Incidently my Acclaim has 175/50s on the front and 165/55s on the back yet no one ever notices, they look pretty much identical, expecialy profile wise.

the NS2's are decent tyres tbh and i think ppl slating them are just jumping on a ive heard this bandwagon. ive switched from rainsports to ns2's(with more stretch) and i aint changed my driving style one bit and i aint found a ditch yet.

I had 195/45 R15 NS-2's on my Saab rims, when I first put them on the Sierra. They where fookin awesome tyres great in the dry and not too shabby in the wet either. As good as Proxies etc
Plus you've got salute there frankly insane ability to produce very skinnny low profile tyres in an array of silly sizes!

Do they make tyres for Saxo VTRs? cos I can only ever find Michelins & the best I can get them for is if I buy all four corners from Costco at about £220. 185 55R14 I think. Pro tyre were about £80 a corner, but that was for something that you can't get in VTR size anymore still Michelin tho (Pilot I think) we have budgets in this size at work, i don't know how hard you have looked but they are availible. i had 185/60 13 nankangs on my fiesta are they had no grip in the wet and were a bit slippy in the dry but they were an old tread patteren though.

I have Nankangs on the white MGB (from the brown car's old Rostyles), and I can get wheelspin dead easy in 1st (but that's on 165R15). I haven't ever really pushed either car hard though, although the Sebring is now on 225/50R15s now (in Kumhos, which IMO, are now a good budget tyre, better than Toyos). A mate of mine (Jimbo200sx) had them on his Mondeo and Rover, and thought it was a bandwagon hating tyre until he went into the back of a PT Cruiser... On the Mondeo he changed them to Hancook Ventus tyres, where he said the difference was night and day. Again he's on Yokohamas now, and absolutely loves the grip of them (and from a few brown trouser moments, I would have to agree with him). I know I could get a BMW 730i to drift with NS-2s. People need to remember that whilst tread patterns may be the same, the compounds rarely are. Take The Full Runs that were on my Focus in 17" Guise. In the wet I don't think that I've have come accross a more lethal tyre (bar what the Escort had (195/60R14 (wrong size) with 1 FateO, 1 Presto Deciba, rear had 1 Colway Remould, and a King Star Remould. Handling on that was ghastly, no matter what the weather was). I think that different people have different perceptions on grip. An underrated tyre IMO is the Yokohama S-Drive. Not the priciest tyre, but for all round grip, it is superb. I know jimbo200sx has scared me silly in his Pug 106 with them on. Some of the Hancook tyres are pretty good too.
