I was just looking through tyre options for fictional wheel/tyre combos (we all do it.....don't we?) when I realised how much potential Nankang tyres have by being manufactured in such wierd sizes. I'm a bit biased, I ran their 185/45 R15 rubber on my Panda and loved it. It meant I could run the rims I wanted to with the stance I wanted to. I was told it would be hard to run 15s on a Panda - impossible to run the wheels with any sort of lowering, let alone the 60mm drop I intended. Nankang and a careful offset choice made it possible with the eventual rolling radius being the same as the stock 13s! So here's a mini-tribute to their NS-2 tyres for making things possible. 165/40 R17:185/35 R17 (on a 7.5j):165/45 R15 (on an 8j):165/40 R17 (on a 7j):165/35 R17 (on a 7j):Your only problem is finding them, although mytyres.co.uk seem to stock many of the odd sizes, and are where I got mine. I remember being laughed out of ATS when shopping for my 185/45 R15s!

Yup Nankang are the kings of weird tyre sizes. I'm in love with the 165/35 R17's just because they're such a daft idea.

165/55 13's are a tiny bit taller than a 175/50, but they tend to look more stretched, plus they're really cheap.

thats all well and good, but what do they grip like? The 215/35 18's on my fto didn't feel any worse than the Toyos i replaced them with. IMHO Nankangs suffer from internet bandwagon panic hearsay.

thats all well and good, but what do they grip like? Mine were great in the dry at least (and plenty of reviews on tyretest.com agree), they were no Rainsport in the wet but they weren't bad. Once you start stretching them though who knows, mine were just a 185 on a 6.5j rim.

I wasn't dissing them, just asking, especially as even the same manufacturer can make grippy and slippy tyres depending on design.

Do they make tyres for Saxo VTRs? cos I can only ever find Michelins & the best I can get them for is if I buy all four corners from Costco at about £220. 185 55R14 I think.
Pro tyre were about £80 a corner, but that was for something that you can't get in VTR size anymore still Michelin tho (Pilot i think)

My neighbour always gets Michelins for his VTS. I gave him massive respect til he told me that its cause it's all he can find.
What size are they?

hehehe i suppose they have to sell some tyres one way or another, making wierd sizes is one way i guess! hehe in the dry these arnt too bad, very average, in the wet though...........shocking! (speaking from experience before someone starts asking have i ever tried them!) made me laugh then when i went to a garage and he was sayin he used these on his hill climb car curse word! if you use anything but semi sloicks for track/hill climbs then your nuts, it just so happened he had alot of them in and was getting a nice big fat commision on them hehe. if all you want is a tyre in a wierd size that look good then sure, but if you drive spiritidly then pay that little bit more. in my opion ofcorse!
