I think i've found a Mk2 Cavalier estate. Its a petrol engined model I think, but the engine is knackered. Could I fit an Izuzu 1.7 TD engine out of a Mk3 Astra easily?
i.e will the TD engine bolt straight in? I know all the fuel system will need to be changed.

I may be wrong but the mk3 was based on the mk2 AFAIK. but even if it was'nt it should'nt be that hard to do and sounds like a cool car in the making.

IIRC they used the same 5 speed box so it should be ok.

Ive stripped a few down and MK2 and MK3 cavs are very similar under the skin. Cant see it being a problem at all.

If its got the OHC engine then it should go straight in. Has been done into a Manta a couple of times with no major probs, but the turbo gives under bonnet clearance issues on them. May not be such an issue on the Cavvy.
Hope the estate turns out to be a good un. Very rare beast these days! Cool as...

Lets clear up car terms: "Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Been to see the car today and its a rotter. The old guy has used the same garage to MOT it forever, and it seems he's been done, as its bodged to curse word.
Gonna try to find another one now. Not gonna be easy I don't think.

That shop is exactly what look I was going for, though i'm also thinking slammed on 15 or 16" steels with tall narrow tyres would be a good look.
I'm excited now. Put a wanted ad on a Mk2 Cav forum and Migweb too so hopefully might turn something up.

Sounds good. There really can't be many left now. I only see one now in Bristol (in a fantastic brown tho').
