OK, here's the thing. I have had 3 vespas over the years, oldest being a 1977 125 Sprint Veloce. No idea on UK prices. However been offered this one. 1962 Vespa 125cc - 3 spd. Looked like this for starters..... Now looks like this. Seller wants £1000 for it. No papers, or MOT. Whats the collective view ? Awesome Asss.

Thanks Marc, It would be an import, so documents would need to be anyway.
I suspect that if one comes to adding the cost of importing , it would be a bit steep.

It's nice, but it doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. Pointy shoes and a parka never had much appeal.

where was it restored about? if it was vietnam/asia stay well clear, they are piles of wibblepoo, mostly all body filler, engine's rebuilt using coke cans
i wouldnt buy it, it looks wrong
the time you import it, join the vetern vespa club, get a daiting cert, take it for dvla inspection etc, you could have found an origianl uk one for a lot less haslte!
my advise is stay away from forign restored one's, join a online uk scooter forum, there are plenty about: scooterboyworld.co.uk is a fine start
if you want more advise pm me

My MOT station had a contract to ticket 50 of these in batches- as they came off the ships.
The chrome was such rubbish that the early ones were severely rusted by the time they arrived; so latterly they arrived lathered in grease.
Most seemed badly bodged, barely runners (curse word my tester rightoff- having to add fuel, charge the battery, generally sort (in a much lowered bulk price).
They just wouldnt survive any sortof Uk winter in a useable condition.Truly awful
Pretty (single coat) paint schemes though.

Thanks guys.
This one is for sale in South Africa, and to be honest, after converting currency, paying for the transport, etc, I could have 2 of the same standard here with MOT.
I have decided not to go for this one, but will keep eyes open.
I have had good times with Vespas over the years. Never a Mod or any of that sort of stuff, just fun hooning about on them.
