Well, it was kinda like that, but not quite as bad. I had a plan inside a plan which was about another plan. Confused yet ? It is 11.52-ish on a Sunday night, so I need to get to sleep. However, I will post a couple of pics now, and the rest some time tomorrow night when I get back. The plan was to fetch my Honda PC 50 which I won on Ebay a few weeks ago, This is also the same one Mystery Machine fetched for me in Paignton, Devon Plan "B" was to get the Alloys he had ordered from Germany to him by road, after they had made it to Kent via "Oldbus Couriers" from Osnabruck and beyond a few weeks ago. Plan "C" which really should have been Plan "A" was to take Ms Grizz away for a Romantic Weekend in Bristol to see some history, maybe a few old cars and eat good food Saturday saw us leave Kent at 06.45am , trailer duly hooked up. 168 miles door to door to get to Bruce and Ms Mystery Machine's Castle. We stopped en-route for coffee at the services etc. On arrival in Bristol, we dumped the trailer overnight at Bruce's place (Thanks Mate) and went off to the city and waterfront to enjoy some culture and local cuisine..... more of that later. I was welcomed in the way I like to be welcome'd by Jed, the Mystery's awesome dog. Ready to run back to Rochester..... Now stashed safely in the warm dry kitchen. The rest of the weekends photos later. off to bed now, it's 00.10 Something else to read, and maybe GOOGLE in the mean time.

Nice one Dude, Glad you made it back safe & sound. Nice to meet you finally (& Ms Grizz) - Jed sure missed you after you'd gone. You've now been named official jed-sitter if we ever decide to go away on our own... Looking forward to seeing the rest of the pics and glad you enjoyed some of what Brizzle has to offer. Cheers for now, Bruce.

OK, back at Ms Grizz, waiting for the B&Q guy to come measure up the kitchen and shock us with his prices. Back to the weekend. Bruce gave me these 2 beer crates from belgium ? To convert into a retro looking box for milk and bread , to be fitted on the carrier. A lovely old Eveready "Emergency lamp" for the Grizz Mobile. Noted this about the bike... wonder if they are still in business ? Another lovely Retro in the back of Mystery Machines yard.... Anyone recognise it ?? JED, getting up to speed with his ball. Just how many retro's can you count ? After spending about 2hrs having a quick cuppa and a chat .... ;D We went off to Bristol city centre and the river, to see what was on offer. Not quite retro, but I thought a decent interpretation of the theme. Retro HUUUUUGE !!! Impressive art. A bit of Retro signage. Look at Mystery machines signature above..... recognise the building ? No visit to Bristol would be complete..... without a visit to: BRUNELS BUTTERY ! If Carlsberg made Bacon Butties..... Awesomely good, no pic of the butty, as I had scoffed it before remembering to take a pic More Retro goodness down by the riverside. Bristol must have the best graffiti in the UK. I took loads of pics and a video of some of it, Here are a few pics... Last Retro for the day... really did not see a lot of retro cars, quite a few campers. Sunday we went to see this ..... Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Amazing piece of work. Only 2 recorded deaths on the build. Brunel died aged 53, he did smoke up to 40 cigars a day. Amazing piece of engineering from a time when horse drawn carts were the norm. Note the numbers and statistics. Saw this and loads of other amazing graffiti while in Bristol. Note the door to the left of the pic to get perspective. Well, that was my weekend, Thanks to Bruce for the guidance on what to do and where to go in Bristol, and tea, and to Jed for being my buddy.

Nice pics there sir. Oh and Davids car is still too far off the ground if you ask me! The car is actually just right from the look of it. I think if it went lower it would look great, but ride wibblepoo. Norman, The Graffitti is awesome, loads of it is just too much for the camera, or appeared while we were driving.

Nice pics Grizz. I'm glad you both had a good weekend and managed to see some of what Bristol has to offer. next time you're this way, I'll get loads more lined up for you....maybe even take you on a tour in the Mystery Machine Brunel Buttery is just the perfect place to dine isn't it? The queues are just as long when it's blowing a gale & raining! Must get down there for a fix soon. Graffiti - yes it's cool, quite a scene going on. Banksy is awesome and helped put Bristol on the map for street art, but the whole scene is taking on a life of its own now and really starting to come alive. Thanks again for the pics, the visit and the delivery....

Thanks guys.
I was worried that not being only old cars and related items, it may be a bit foreign to some, but like the thread I did a few weeks ago with the tugs, sometimes a bit of different is not a bad thing.
I try take pics with a wide and general appeal, some of the stuff I photograph will not sit that well here.
I was very tempted to post more pics, including some of the graffitti.....

Where is that? I live in Bristol & can't work it out. Think I have seen your Delica around Downend a couple of times. Although going from your other thread, you live in St George.

Where is that? I live in Bristol & can't work it out. Think I have seen your Delica around Downend a couple of times. Although going from your other thread, you live in St George. I do indeed live in St George - just opposite St George's park by the fountain. The shots were taken on Gassferry Rd which is the road leading to the SS Great Britain. The buildings themselves are part of the old Albion Yard, which in itself formed part of the Great Western Dockyard....this is where Brunel had the main workshops based during the construction of the SS Great Britian. They are going to be developed soon and I really really hope they don't demolish them. Knowing the narrow minded way the world is these days they will get knocked down and nasty modern offices put there instead which would be a crying shame to lose such amazing pieces of architecture and also such pieces of history. I would give anything to live in those buildings (dream = to own the whole building I parked in front of!) but it seems in this day & age that only fancy, ornate churches and grand facades get to be preserved and beautiful imposing slabs of industrial design like this just get replaced by cheap steel & glass aparments/offices! I won't go on, but I am sure you understand where I am coming from?? You more than likely have seen both of my Delica's parked around Downend, my parents live there and so does my sister. I'm also one of the main property contractors for Andrews Lettings/Estate agents so I'm always in the area doing work for them (if not parked outside their office in Downend) Have a couple more images from around GW Dockyard: Some of which tie in nicely with Grizz's graffiti comments too.... Gotta love Bristol!

Bruce, here is your answer my friend..... Sadly there are other interests at work here. I took loads of pics of the old buildings and architecture as well, but this pic sums it all up for me sadly. And your (our) interests are about this far from the collective conscience of money makers and developers. Oh, and did I mention Bristol and its culture rocks ?
