one has appeared in the storage unit between my old bug and Tarquin's bay camper, the owner of said vehicle is a lurker on here and its about time he bloody registered...eh Matt ?! anyway, how about links for forums, suppliers, cross model parts ideas, non-Merc engine swaps and owt else that might be of interest ? i had the pleasure of being towed around in it earlier, bit different to a mk2 polo but not bad TBH.

well it aint a V8 so i'm guessing straight 6 ?
the engine's seized but its a long term project he's hoping to get it on the road next year. sourcing repair panels ATM, he's probably gonna do it black, the white is cracking all over a right rough respray over dark blue, bloody shame.
i just wish he'd register and get posting cos i don't want to deny him the pleasure of sharing the purchase price with everyone.
(his Porsche got chopped up to make room for this)

iT's A W108 not a W109, 109's are Long wheel base (4" longer ) air suspension cars and started with the M186 300 motor ,hence 300 SEL ,and then had the 3.5 V8 followed in the US with 4.5 V 8 .Normally in the UK market the V8 cars were the only ones to have the stack headlights. The US market had them because theyt had sealed beam glowworm lamps as a result of federal stupidity. In all other markets the stacked lights had the H4 halogen units. That still has a becker radio, they are the only head units that suit the dash, use a MP3 or Ipod connected to a hidden amp for sounds and leave the radio alone. Another clue to 108-109 differences is the fact that 109's have chrome window surrounds and 108's are painted. That is a choice set of wheels and worthy of a repower, though i would install a 117 V8 ( 560 se etc ) .Not some limp wristed rover or generic chev. The original six,if is seized is now beyond economic repair, cylinder heads for example are no longer available new. But Hey,,,I am jealous,i want it too!! ;D ;D ;D

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
