It was Leyland's answer to the Falcon, Kingswood and Valiant. Started production in 1973, and was built in Australia until 1974 and New Zealand until 1976. Came with a 2.6 six cylinder, or a (wait for it) 4.4 litre V8 based on the Rover 3.5 lump. Have a pic of the equally stylish rear end....you could fit a 44 gallon drum in the boot.....if you really wanted too.

Woah, huge variety there! Fantastic! I love that P76. Wonder if there are any in the UK? I really really want one! In that colour too. And that Monza... is that badged a Holden? It looks a bit smoother than the UK spec Monza. The front end is definitely different to ours. Great looking car! Great pics, thanks for sharing Jader!

Apparently there were plans to export the P76 to the UK but it never happened. As for the Monza, I've had another look, and think it must be a private import. Looks as if it has had a Commodore nose fitted. Peter Brock brought one over from Europe, pulled out the six cylinder and fitted a 5 litre V8 instead, along with Commodore rack and pinion steering. Turned out it would have been too expensive to get it to meet ADRs so he only ever brought one in. Pic of it: Definately not the same car.

Was so tempted to go, Dad already had a Lancia run for the morning in his Fulvia that would have got us half way there already... But it was cancelled with half the planned roads closed by the fires sparked by the hot & windy Saturday. Almost makes me wish we'd gone... But I got stuck into working on my car instead !
