...what's good to use? At some point I want to get my 'P-Slots' properly refurbished - they are a bit scratched and marked and let the look of the car down really. Until then, I want to at least try to tidy them up a bit. Question is - what paint to use? They are a sort of grey colour with black in the P's: so can I just use a regular aerosol from Halfords? Or will that react with brake dust and flake or something? Not looking forward to the masking up I'll need to do when I do the black bits... I'm useless at that sort of thing ;D

oh, and to make it double-awkward, I need to match the colour of the centre caps as closely as I can. I've seen more than one set of refurbed Ps that are a slightly different shade to the caps, stands out a mile off! So I'll have to either paint the plastic or get a custom paint mix...

I say black-face the Wheels and do the inside of the Ps red - accents the body colour and would look great Vinyl dye is what you need to colour plastic - it doesn't paint over it, it actually dyes the plastic itself. *n

See, I've toyed with the idea of painting the wheels black before, I even photoshopped it up: I did a better one that that with painted bumpers, but that's the only one I have online at the moment. Not sure about red in the Ps though, but I might 'shop it up! Vinyl dye sounds interesting, might look into that! Wouldn't really want to permanently affect the caps though, they are getting difficult to find in good condition and expensive! Something else I've looked into is making new ones with some plastic/resin molding kits but I haven't got round to buying any yet to try it...

The problem with resin is that it's A, carcinogenic and B, bloody brittle when cured. It's a good plan though - create a two-piece mould and find a durable resin/plastic to mould in...Could make a few pence too *n

Just normal paint . Works a treat if you key the surface up properly. Go to a place that mixes custom colours (Halfrauds if you must... ) and whack it on.

You can get Polyurethane in various hardnesses that would do the trick

I used rattle cans on this wheel, and after 6 months, it still cleans up well. Wheel silver and satin black, then clear coated the lot.
