Sorry should have explained .... This isn't my final design at all, was just to show what I'm gonna be doing. The rocker will be triangular (only ended up that shap cos I drew the rest wrong and didn't have time to re do it ) and the shock will probably be mounted front to back with the push rod at a jaunty angle. I think I'll also be making the rockers adjustable cos untill it's all up and running I don't know what spring rates ect I'll need. It's gonna take a lot of playing about but it should get there eventually! Cheers for all the comments!

if you are running inboard shocks, could you run them horizontally. No other reason that it would look good! look at the front of this rc car

I think I will have to do it like that, simpley because I'll need them out of the way of the engine and diff etc in the back and the fuel cell and rad etc in the front!

Right I've been busy with the angle grinder in the garage and got 99% of the rust off now so I'll soon be able to start the interesting bits like mounting the engine! No pics I'm afraid not a lot to look at anyway! However I have just purchased this: And this: Which sould equal this All I've got to find out is if I can blow through my ZX10 carbs or not?!? Anybody know actually? They are 1989 ZX10 B Items.

As long as you keep the breathers for the float bowl inside the airbox they should be fine (otherwise you tend to blow the fuel back into the tank) as this is effectively only a very good ram air system.
The other option of course is to go fuel injection with a set of CBR1000 throttle bodies (or similar), which are very cheap, and something like Megasquirt, then you can do pretty much what you want and control the ignition without the damned CDI unit!
Excellent project either way though!

regarding the suspension, if you can mount the coilovers vertically then the effective rate of the springs will be equal to the spring rate. good luck with this, will be interesting to follow

Hello, Sorry for the complete lack of progress recently this project has not been forgotten and mojo is still high for it! I still cant get into my garage because of all the tools and even if I could I still havn't got hold of the diff, drive shafts etc that I need to be able to continue! I have however decided on what diff / shafts to use! I'm going to go for MX5 bits as they're pretty easy to find and the hubs are all ready for the double wishbone set up i want! Other than that I've just been spending all my money on tools that I'm gonna need for the build and sorting out / bodging together a working air compressor I can have air tools yay! Progress might start in the next few days as there's a complete MX5 subframe diff hubs brakes on the bay that isn't to expensive at the mo have to see how much it goes up by but we will see! finger crossed could have some progress next week! Ant

sweet that's your rear end sorted, mount it high in the car so you wont have to fit lowing springs and muck up the geometry forum.oldskoolsuzuki.info/cgi-bin/Yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1107708284all about blowing through bike carbs, okay it's for a suzuki but the principles are the same. And ages ago i had a thought about your front suspension and then i forgot. Use motocross rear shock's way more adjustable loads longer, and them mx boy are allways wanting to upgrade.

Thankyou Mr Root!! That is a class idea crosser shocks would suit way better Nice one! Oh and cheers for the link to oldskoolsuzuki that should be usefull! I do love some of the bikes that come out of there, gotta love a 7/11!
I'm gonna be binning / e-baying the standard MX5 shocks cos I've already got a pair of CBR 600 shocks for the rear! They should be ok as there's gonna be a lot more weight over them with the engine in the back!
Cheers again for that sugestion spot on!

Hello I've only gone and done a bit on it!! Sorry I've been really slack with the updates recently but I've done quite a bit since last time! Firstly I got hold of and then bent a load of CDS tube (it's 32mm diameter with 3mm wall thickness) into the shape of a roll cage. I managed to borrow a very swish digital pipe bender so it all went pretty easily, messed up the first attempt at a hoop but got the hang of it after that! Last night a mate of mine came over to weld for me as i'm curse word and he's a pro and I don't want to take any chances. He's just tacked it for now as my welder isn't powerful enough I'll be taking the whole chassis and cage down to my local friendly engineering firm to weld it up propperly one saterday when it's all in place! Right Pics: This is the main hoop and the two rear legs. It's got a bent cross bar to support the engine. And I've got the engine in position to make up the rear brackets which have got to got here:- This is where the mid section of the cage will be going but I've got to mill down the ends to to fit nicely round the welds. And I got this!!! I'm pretty exited about this bargin, it's an intercooler from one of these! I'm not sure if its the best solution but it'll fit really well into the back of the kitten where there is limited space and it looks really cool too!! How effective do you lot think it'll be? It's all ally construction and it's got some lovley thin fins inside so there is quite a lot of surface area! Cheers any feedback is welcome!

What's the two plates about?

The top plate is just serial numbers and stuff and the other plate is the 'modification record' which I might nick and put on the dashboard instead and stamp somthing into it. It's totally blank so I don't think it's ever been installed in a jet! NOS lol

Intercooler is a good un, just make sure the narrow end is pointing towards the airflow, and it should cool a little bike engine's input.
