Back in the early 90's my mate was selling his old Ford Escort for £600. I was tempted to buy it as the reg was CUE 13OY. Was gutted when a few years later I watched a documentary on Jimmy White and saw him pull up in his new motor sporting the reg.
The person who owns NewReg.com lives locally and he puts cherished plates on family and friends cars as away of advertising. Regularly see FET15H , S4TAN, P5CHO, CLA55, TOY130Y.
An owner of a pyrotechnics company my mate works for drives a Ferrari with JET150N
once saw a car pull In to a Tool Hire Place with H1RED, a Golf GTi with A16VOK spaced out to A 16V OK and G1LTY on a car parked outside a Solicitors.

There was a 90s Mini Cooper doing the rounds at Mini shows a few years ago which had been entirely rebadged as a Mini 'Sooper', equipped with the reg M500PER.
Whenever I see an X5 xxx or M5 xxx plate on any car other than the relevant BMW I always find it interesting to see what the driver's bought having finished with their BM. There's been some serious downgrading where I live!

The other day I made up R888 TSE at work for a Mr. Tse, who had previously bought P888 TSE for his wife. And I only got it thanks to that HSBC advert

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

I was looking recently, and if I had a suitable sled/rod/rat in satin black, V666GTH is available. If I had a spare £450 I would probably put it on the IS200, it would look good at the back below the skull and roses on the parcel shelf.

Saw BO05TED on a Nissan 350Z today - nice to see a plate that doesn't need dod gys pac1ng to read correctly.
Just remembered another I saw a few years ago - a Ferrari 360 with BES7 70Y, printed in a font that at first glance looked as if he'd just printed BEST TOY.
