Be careful chopping the Hunter wings off. Try and brace the inner wings/chassis rails if you can. We restored one when I worked at the recovery garage. When we chopped the wings off there was a lovely ping and both inner wings/chassis rails moved in different directions. Took a load of ratchet straps and measuring to get them back where they should have been.

whaddya reckon matt - somehing like a strutbrace to hold it in place - or some actual stiffener sectiuons from the chassis rail welded up the inner wing??
don't like the idea of front end components moving about really!!

On the one we did after that we just welded some box section between the strut tops and chassis rails at the front and it didn't move.

somehing like a strutbrace to hold it in place yep, I thought that too mate!! ;D I'm assuming that a kev fabbed strutbrace and some box section behind the slam panel somewhere should do the job ok? did you cut the slam panle / front panel / valence off whn doing the wings matt? - as that might have affected the front end structure somewhat? - kev ps - matt - cheers for the wheels!

If your steel wings are welded, would it not be possible to weld stainless nuts to the underside of the inner wings, then bolt on the fibreglass? Aaron. I thought there were MOT issues with replacing welded on wings with bolt ons. How they're supposed to know how they used to be attached on obscure cars is anyones guess. Sorry, meant to say to strengthen the inner wings if necessary. Aaron.

I've got plastic wings on the back of the 2CV. It's great because they don't dent! Downsides are that really, the paint is a bit hard. A couple of stone chips have cracked the paint off as it isn't as flexible as the wing itself!

I'm using Smith & deakin GRP wings on my pickup. I bought them new direct from them, and have had to 'dismantle' them to get them on - the fit was miles out! However, with a bit of grafting and ingenuity, it's a better fit than the factory steel wings! Mine just bolt on at all the original bolting points (factory captive nuts). There's pics in the thread - click the link in my sig. Dale On S&D, sometimes people say they aren't the best parts now.

On S&D, sometimes people say they aren't the best parts now. I am one of them. My painter and I did most things to try to get those wings to fit the Sebring, but the fitment was miles out. Eventually, we did what Moss and MG Motorsport have done, and bought a set of steel wings and grafted on the arches from the FG wings. More to the point, he claimed I was the only one who had issues with fitment when I called him (the manager of S&K). It's a shame a virus ate my pics from years ago, but basically, the shut gaps were wavy on the Sebring wings, something which would take alot of effort to get right again. But the wing alignment was generally curse word anyway. Getting the FG Valence of theirs to fit will be fun...
